The Mayor of London is offering £40 million through the Grenfell Assisted Shared Ownership Scheme (GAHOS). It helps eligible households buy a share of their current social rented home. The terms are similar to the statutory Right to Buy scheme. Registered providers can apply, and funding amounts are negotiated on a case-by-case basis.
Who can apply:
Key requirements:
- Must be a registered housing provider
- Must have eligible high-rise residential buildings in London
- Funding amounts are negotiated individually
This scheme is for registered housing providers in London with eligible social rented homes. It is designed to help tenants buy a stake in their current home on Right to Buy-style terms. It is not for individual tenants applying directly.

Full details from Greater London Authority / Mayor of London
This fund covers eligible costs to remove and replace unsafe non-ACM cladding systems on high-rise residential buildings in England, with the GLA delivering the programme in London. It was originally announced by the government in March 2020 with £1 billion of spending. The fund is open to private sector, public sector, and local authority applicants with eligible high-rise residential buildings.
Registered providers can apply through the Greater London Authority. The scheme is ongoing with no fixed deadline. Contact the GLA directly to discuss funding amounts, as these are negotiated individually.
