Overview
Cambridge City Council Community Grants support activities and organisations that help build a fairer, greener and more inclusive Cambridge. The fund is meant for the benefit of Cambridge residents. Activities and events can be open to people who live elsewhere, but funding is proportionate to the number of beneficiaries who live in the city. There are three tiers. Small Community Grants are for £5,000 or less. Large Community Grants offer up to £10,000 per year for up to three years. Organisation Support Grants help your organisation plan ahead, build resilience and deliver long-term impact. The council has widened the scope to cover activities lasting more than one year, and to give general support rather than only funding specific events. Round 1 launches on 24 November 2026. A webinar for Small Community Grant applicants follows on 1 December 2026. You can also book a face-to-face guidance session on 9 December 2026, from 10am to 3pm, at the Support Cambridgeshire office in Arbury Court. Support Cambridgeshire can help you complete your form, develop policies and present your financial information. One caveat matters if you are planning ahead. As local government reorganisation progresses, this is the last chance to apply for multi-year funding through the Large Community Grant and Organisation Support Grant schemes. Cambridge City Council Community Grants has three separate tiers. The Large Community and Organisation Support rounds closed on 22 September 2026. Small Community Grants, up to £5,000, are due to open on 24 November 2026 and close at midday on 12 January 2027. This programme is separate from Cambridge Street Aid. Community organisations must benefit Cambridge city residents and meet the rules of the selected grant tier. Funding for activity across a wider area is proportionate to the benefit for city residents. Select the relevant tier on the council website and check its application window. The Small Community Grants round is not yet open.
