Centres of Excellence for Regulatory Science and Innovation

This grant funds the creation of a Centre of Excellence for Regulatory Science and Innovation (CERSI). A CERSI runs long-term research programmes that tackle key priorities in regulatory science. Regulatory science is the research that supports how medicines and health products are tested, approved, and monitored. You can apply for up to £20 million. The deadline to apply is 12 January 2027. You must be based at a UK research organisation that is eligible for MRC funding.

This is for researchers based at UK research organisations that are eligible for MRC funding, such as universities and research institutes. It is aimed at those who want to lead a sustained, strategic programme of regulatory science research. It is not for businesses, charities, or individuals outside of eligible research organisations.

You apply through UK Research and Innovation (UKRI). Your organisation must be eligible for Medical Research Council funding before you apply. Check the UKRI funding finder for full application details and any expression of interest requirements.
