Overview
This competition funds contracts of up to £200,000 inclusive of VAT for each project lasting up to 9 months. UK based organisations of any size can lead a project tackling one of four Defra and Food Standards Agency challenges. Applications close on 14 October 2026 at 11:00am.
Requirements to check
Key requirements:
- Must be a UK based organisation of any size
- Contracts are awarded to a single legal entity only
- Projects must start on 1 January 2027 and end by 30 September 2027, lasting up to 9 months
- Total project costs must be no more than £200,000 inclusive of VAT
- Project must focus on one of the four specified Defra and FSA themes
- At least 50% of the contract value must be attributed to R&D services
- The majority of project work and key deliverables must be completed by the applicant in the UK
- Application must include a plan to commercialise the results
