Calderdale Council's Ward Forum Grants give up to £500 to help with a new or current project that needs extra funds. Your project must benefit a ward in Calderdale or the people who live there. Examples include activities and projects that bring people together from different age groups, backgrounds and neighbourhoods and make a positive difference. Others might improve the health and well-being of local people, or improve the environment in the ward. You can apply at any time. The council welcomes projects that address one or more of the pledges in its Corporate Plan. These cover value for money, better roads and highways, reduced crime and anti-social behaviour, cleaner streets, and housing that is safe, affordable and warm. Each ward also has its own local priorities. These are highlighted at ward forums and reviewed by Ward Councillors each year. The scheme suits community groups that are properly set up. You need a constitution or rules with a dissolution clause, a bank account in the group's name, and a safeguarding policy for children, young people or vulnerable adults. Your local Neighbourhood Team runs the scheme for your ward. Ward Councillors decide on eligible applications with support from the Neighbourhood Team. Decisions are reported back to Ward Forums. One thing to bear in mind: each ward has a grants budget of £5,000 per financial year, and awards come out of that pot. Funding in each ward is limited.
