Charnwood Borough Council Grants

Charnwood Small Community Grants 2026/27

Charnwood Borough Council

Charnwood Borough Council's Small Community Grants offer up to £750 to properly constituted voluntary and community sector (VCS) organisations working in Charnwood. You can use a grant for running costs or for projects lasting up to one year. Environmental projects are also welcome, as are one-off contributions towards equipment for projects with community benefit. The council gives priority to community-based services, projects and activities that improve the lives, health and wellbeing of vulnerable and disadvantaged people and communities in Charnwood. Requests that ease the impact of the cost-of-living crisis on VCS organisations, and on the people they support, are of particular interest. The programme opened on 2 March 2026. It stays open until Friday 6 November 2026, or until the money runs out, whichever comes first. You can apply at any time before then. This is a fast-track scheme. The council aims to assess, approve and pay a grant within 25 working days of receiving a complete application with all supporting documents. You should therefore apply at least 25 working days before any planned activity or event. One practical point: the online form cannot be saved and reopened, and it times out at midnight. Read the form preview and the guidance notes first, then gather your answers and supporting documents before you start. The council also advises applying early rather than waiting for the deadline, so there is time to ask you for more information if needed.
