The Cumbria Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner's Community Fund is open now. It offers grants of up to £2,500 for local projects that help make communities across Cumbria safer and stronger. Applications must reach the Office of the Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner (OPFCC) by 5:00pm on 30 October 2026. The money can pay for project activities, equipment, resources and project-specific staffing. It is meant for new, improved or expanded work that your organisation could not otherwise provide. Routine running costs such as rent, utilities, insurance and existing salaries are not covered. Your project must support at least one priority in the Police, Fire and Crime Plan. These are tackling anti-social behaviour; tackling domestic abuse, sexual violence or violence against women and girls; disrupting or preventing drug supply or use; helping people stay safe online; tackling rural crime; addressing anti-social or dangerous driving; and preventing neighbourhood crime. You also need to show a clear benefit to the local community. It suits community groups and organisations in Cumbria with a practical idea that fits these priorities. One important step: you cannot apply alone. You need a sponsor, who must be a Police Officer, PCSO, police staff member or Fire Officer. They discuss your idea, help you complete the form and submit it for you. If you do not have a sponsor yet, contact your local neighbourhood policing team quickly. If you are successful, you must spend the money within 12 months unless agreed otherwise, and send a short evaluation form within six months of receiving it.
