Duchy of Lancaster Benevolent Fund (Merseyside Lieutenancy)

The Duchy of Lancaster Benevolent Fund supports charities and other benevolent organisations in Merseyside. Its money comes from the estates of people who die in the County Palatine of Lancaster without leaving a will. Each year the Lord-Lieutenant of Merseyside receives a share of the Fund to support local charities and other benevolent organisations. You can apply for up to £5,000. The Fund wants your request to match what you actually need. Cost each item separately and attach quotations from external providers. Do not simply ask for the maximum. Grants pay for specific actions that meet a need you have identified. You will need to show the impact and explain why the grant is good value for money. You can apply at any time of year. The Grants Committee meets quarterly. The next deadline is 20 December 2026, for the committee sitting in late January 2027. After that, the deadline is 1 April 2027, for the committee sitting in late April 2027. The Fund will only consider salaries and running costs in exceptional circumstances. It does not normally fund individuals, political causes, general appeals, animal welfare, ongoing running costs, or a small contribution to a bigger fundraising ask. It also does not normally fund the same project again within three years. Make sure you send everything the form asks for.
