Fareham Borough Council's Community Funding helps community organisations and individuals pay for projects that benefit the wider community. In most cases it covers one-off capital costs. Past projects range from an accessible toilet to a replacement safety boat. If you are setting up a new project, you can ask for a one-off payment towards revenue costs for a limited period agreed with the Council. It suits not-for-profit community organisations that have official papers showing they are set up not to make a profit. Individuals can apply too, as long as they can show they are applying on behalf of the community. Applications from businesses will not be considered. There is no set amount. You can apply for any sum, but the Council will ask you for an appropriate contribution of your own. This depends on your accounts, how many people will benefit and the support you already have. If you want more than £5,000, you will be expected to put in at least the same amount from other sources. The fund is open all year, so you can apply at any time. Your project must not have started yet. If you have had Community Funding before, you must wait two years from the date it was approved before applying again. Decisions on requests up to £15,000 normally take 6-8 weeks after you submit your documents. Larger requests go to the Council's Executive, which meets once a month. Money is released after a seven working day call-in period, once you have signed the terms and conditions.
