The Red Gap Wind Farm Community Fund gives community grants to projects located within the Borough of Hartlepool. The money comes from Red Gap Wind Farm, which was developed by Airvolution Energy and is now owned and managed by Netro Energy Limited. Around £70,000 is available each year, and this support is planned for 25 years. Groups can apply for any amount from £500 up to the full value of the annual fund, so both small and larger projects can be considered. The fund suits groups with a project based in Hartlepool. Your project must be within the borough. Priority goes to applications from the Parishes of Elwick and Dalton Piercy, which were the parishes closest to the wind farm when it was built. There is usually one application round each year. The next deadline is midnight on 19 May 2027. In 2024 there was an extra round because not all of the money was given out in the first round. A local Advisory Group reviews applications and decides how the grants are shared out. It includes three representatives from Elwick Parish, three from Dalton Piercy Parish, an elected member for the Rural West Ward and a council officer from regeneration or community services. Decisions are expected by the end of July 2027, so allow for this gap if your project has a fixed start date.
