Kirklees Council Grants

Members Ward Budget

Kirklees Council

The Members Ward Budget, also called the Members Local Project Fund, is money that Kirklees councillors can use to tackle specific local issues and priorities in their ward. Councillors decide how it is spent. They draw on their local knowledge and on what ward residents tell them. This fund suits community and voluntary groups with a project that responds to a need in their own area. The page does not give a grant size, an application window or a closing date, so the best first step is to talk to the council team that supports it. The Active Citizens and Places Team gives information and advice. Each officer covers a set of wards. One covers Batley East, Batley West and Birstall & Birkenshaw. Another covers Cleckheaton, Heckmondwike and Liversedge & Gomersal. Others cover the Dewsbury and Mirfield wards, the Almondbury, Ashbrow, Dalton and Newsome wards, the Colne Valley, Golcar, Greenhead and Lindley wards, and the Crosland Moor & Netherton, Denby Dale, Holme Valley and Kirkburton wards. Here is one practical point to plan for. Non-profit making voluntary and community groups must register with the Grants Access Point before they can apply for Kirklees Council funding schemes. The council reviews your key documents and gives feedback on your governance and management arrangements. Registration lasts for 3 years, so it is worth sorting this out early.
