Kirkby Moor Wind Farm Community Benefit Fund

Cumbria Community Foundation

Up to £10,000North West England

The Kirkby Moor Wind Farm Community Benefit Fund is run by Cumbria Community Foundation, with money from the wind farm's operator, Nadara Limited. It gives grants to organisations for work in the communities within eight kilometres of the Kirkby Moor Wind Farm. You can apply for initiatives that reduce poverty, improve health, tackle social inequality and help people reach their potential. You can also apply for projects that nurture a sense of place or promote climate action. The fund gives examples of activities it would like to support. These include projects that promote or put into practice the sustainable use of energy and resources, environmental improvements to community facilities, and projects that improve energy efficiency for residents on low incomes or in community facilities. It also mentions community composting schemes, projects that promote local produce and reduce food miles, hedge restoration and wildflower planting, and free events that teach people about efficient use of resources and energy. Grants will normally be up to £10,000 over one year. This fund suits charitable and not-for-profit organisations whose work benefits people in the area of benefit. A map on the funder's page shows the eligible area. Priority goes to projects in the red area, so make it clear where your project is based. One practical point: the fund does not support individuals, and the foundation's normal exclusions also apply. All applications go through the online application portal, and the funder provides a step-by-step help guide. You can contact Siona Hartley on 01900 825760 if you would like more information. East Lindsey Community Legacy Scheme

Lincolnshire Community Foundation (East Lindsey District Council)

Up to £35,000East Midlands

The East Lindsey Community Legacy Scheme offers grants of up to £35,000 for community projects in the District of East Lindsey. Lincolnshire Community Foundation runs it with East Lindsey District Council, and the money comes from the council's East Lindsey Investment Fund. You can use the grant for capital costs, revenue costs or both. It suits charities and community groups, social enterprises and town and parish councils with a track record of delivering locally. Your project must support community development and tackle one or more of these priorities: community facilities, community cohesion, core strength, digital exclusion and transport, young people, older people, or heritage, arts and culture. The Fund Guidelines explain each priority in more detail. The current round closes on Friday 30 October 2026. The foundation says more closing dates will follow. You should hear the outcome within six weeks of the closing date. A panel will look at whether you meet the criteria, the impact on East Lindsey residents and how well you fit the wider fund's aims. Plan your budget carefully. If your project costs more than £5,000 in total, you must show match funding of at least 25% of the total project value. This can be other money or an in-kind contribution. You must also be able to spend the grant, finish the work and report on impact by the end of February 2028. Grants are usually paid in arrears. If you cannot cover costs up front, the foundation may pay in advance or in stages. If you want to talk through an idea first, you can contact the grantmaker, Cavan Collins, on 01529 305825 or at cavan@lincolnshirecf.co.uk. Tannach and District Wind Farm Trust

Foundation Scotland

Up to £25,000Scotland

This fund from Foundation Scotland supports projects that benefit the Tannach and District community in Highland. It is paid for by wind farm donations from Wathegar, Wathegar 2 and Bilbster, and the Trust currently has £169,000 available to give out. You can ask for up to £25,000. Requests for more than that may be considered case by case if you can show significant benefit for the community, but you should contact the funder before applying. Your project must contribute to at least one of the Trust's outcomes. These include more sport and recreation, safer access through settlements, more varied activities and services, a stronger community life, more local economic activity, new vocational skills, valued heritage, more sustainable energy use in homes and community buildings, and more tourism opportunities. You will need to list the measurable activities and outputs you will deliver. The fund can help with feasibility work, salaries, core running costs and up to 100% of project costs. Multi-year awards are usually offered for a maximum of three years. You do not need to be a registered charity. The next deadline is 31 October 2026. The following round closes on 28 February 2027. A local panel of residents recommends awards, and you will usually hear 6-8 weeks after each deadline. One thing to plan for: you must show that you have consulted the people who will benefit and that local groups support your idea. If any item or contract will cost over £30,000, you must also run an open and fair tendering process and send evidence of it with your application. Halkirk District Benefit Fund

Foundation Scotland

Up to £25,000Scotland

The Halkirk District Benefit Fund gives community benefit grants of up to £25,000 to groups and organisations in the Halkirk District of Highland. It is managed by Foundation Scotland on behalf of a local board of volunteer directors. The money comes from an annual payment from the 21 turbine Causeymire Wind Farm, which is owned and managed by Ventient Energy. The fund backs projects that support sustainable development in the area. That includes community development, recreational activities and facilities, regeneration, education about the environment, culture, heritage or history, better environmental amenities, and buildings or sites of architectural, historic or community importance. The next application deadline is 31 October 2026. Later deadlines are 31 January 2027 and 30 April 2027. Applicants hear the board's decision within two weeks of the board meeting. Unsuccessful applicants get feedback, and all decisions are final. The board looks for evidence that you have consulted the people who will benefit and that the community supports your project. It also encourages partnership working, local suppliers where they offer good value, and a thought-through approach to sustainable development. One practical point: groups without a representative membership structure cannot be supported. That means groups whose committee or board is not elected by, or accountable to, a wider group of people. This page is for groups. Individuals have a separate page.
