Regions
Full details from Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council
Sandwell Council spends part of its Community Infrastructure Levy (a charge on new developments) in local communities through CIL grants of up to £5,000 for community groups. Grants are for capital costs only, such as sports equipment, furniture, some renovations or IT equipment, not revenue costs such as staff, rent or events, or consumables. Projects must meet some of the council's 2030 Ambitions, be backed by a local consultation, help mitigate the impact of development and benefit residents in the town, have no future revenue implications for CIL, and be completed within 12 months of approval. Match funding is encouraged. It does not fund events, duplicated council services, council buildings, grounds maintenance labour, projects benefiting only individuals or very small groups, mainly religious or political activity, retrospective spend, businesses or statutory bodies. No deadline is given; groups contact the Town Grants Team or their town's Neighbourhoods Officer.
Email the Town Grants Team (town_grants@sandwell.gov.uk) or contact the Neighbourhoods Officer for your town (Oldbury, Rowley Regis, Smethwick, Tipton, Wednesbury or West Bromwich; contacts on the council's CIL grants page) to discuss your project and complete a proposal. You will need your constitution, a list of management board members, three months of bank statements, current quotes and evidence of local consultation.
