Overview

Secure Innovation Security Reviews give early-stage UK technology businesses expert help to protect their ideas, technology and reputation, including from state threats. An approved security reviewer carries out a high-level assessment of your security. It covers protective security governance, security culture, risk management, cyber security, secure supply chains and partnerships, and incident management. The scheme pays £2,500 of the £3,000 cost of the review, including VAT. You pay the remaining £500, including VAT, directly to the reviewer. Once your report is submitted, you also get a £300 voucher towards Cyber Essentials certification. The voucher must be used by 31 March 2027. The scheme suits small and medium sized UK businesses, especially spin-outs and start-ups with strong growth potential. You need to work in one of the sensitive areas of the economy set out in the National Security and Investment Act, or in a qualifying sector or frontier industry in the UK's modern industrial strategy. Applications opened on 23 October 2026 and close on 31 January 2027. Over 300 grants are available. They are given on a first-come, first-served basis, and once the money is allocated no more awards can be made. Applying early gives you the best chance. One practical point: you must be willing to complete the whole process, including a site visit and a 6-month follow-up review. The funding covers the review only. It does not pay for putting security measures in place. Official source: https://iuk-business-connect.org.uk/opportunities/secure-innovation-security-review/.
