Full details from SSE Renewables (Strathy North Wind Farm)

SSE Renewables makes around £225,000 a year available through its Strathy North wind farm for community and charitable projects in the Bettyhill, Strathnaver and Altnaharra, and Melvich community council areas of north Sutherland, and expects to invest £4.5 million between 2014 and 2039. The community fund offers grants of up to £25,000 for projects that build the sustainability of local communities as vibrant places to live, work and visit, and that develop activities and services. It can pay for the running costs of groups, employees or essential workers, consultation and feasibility studies, events and festivals, equipment, and maintenance or refurbishment of community facilities. Groups seeking more than £25,000 should contact SSE's Community Investment Manager first. A separate micro grant fund and an apprenticeship scheme (run by Farr North Community Development Trust) are also available. The last 2026 deadline is 31 October, with the panel usually meeting in early December.
