Overview

This grant helps UK universities bring industry professionals into fusion energy teaching. UKAEA will fund 10 visiting academics for three years starting September 2026. Each award covers up to £30,000 to pay for at least 15 days of teaching per year. Five places are reserved for early career professionals with maximum 8 years since their last qualification. The Fusion Industrial Visiting Academic Scheme provides funding to support UK universities to work with registered UK industry professionals to enhance student learning and strengthen pipelines into the fusion industry. The grant, to be managed by the UK host university, provides financial support to cover a minimum of 15 days of teaching resource a year for three years. UKAEA will support 10 industry professionals to be visiting academics for three years, commencing in September 2026. Of the 10 awards, 5 will be reserved for early career professionals (maximum 8 years since last academic qualification) subject to quality threshold being met.
