Full details from The Vintners' Foundation (Vintners' Company)
The Vintners' Foundation is the charitable arm of the Vintners' Company, a City of London livery company. It funds charities working mainly in Greater London, especially inner London, on three priorities: relieving poverty and homelessness where health, education or financial hardship are factors; addressing the social effects of alcohol abuse or misuse; and supporting young people through youth projects and designated educational establishments. Most grants are one-off awards of up to £5,000 for a specific project rather than core or general costs, and smaller charities are preferred. A committee meets four times a year (typically March, June, September and November). There are no deadlines, but it can take weeks or months for an application to reach the committee, so it is not suited to time-critical projects. It does not normally fund organisations funded in the last three years, organisations under two years old, those with income over £10 million or reserves above 12 months' spending, religious promotion, medical research or equipment, general or emergency appeals, political or heritage projects, or work outside London. It also does not fund volunteer expenses, marketing materials or individual educational grants.
Read the eligibility criteria and FAQs on the Vintners' Company charity page, then submit the online grant application form (the only route accepted). Include clear objectives and measurable outcomes, a detailed budget and your latest audited accounts. You will get an acknowledgement; the Charities Secretary assesses the application and may ask for more detail before it goes to the Vintners' Foundation Committee, which may request a visit. Feedback is not given on unsuccessful applications.
