Warm Homes Loan Scheme
Funding
Up to £300,000,000
Location
England
Applications
Open until 17 July 2026
The Warm Homes Loan Scheme helps homeowners and private landlords in England install low-carbon upgrades. This includes solar panels, batteries, and heat pumps. The scheme works by giving grants to private lenders. This reduces the loan amount, so borrowers get a lower interest rate. The total pot is up to £300 million. Applications close on 17 July 2026.
Who can apply:
Key requirements:
- Applicant must be a private sector lender
- Loans must fund low-carbon home upgrades such as solar PV, batteries, or heat pumps
- Borrowers must be homeowners or private rented sector landlords
This scheme is for private sector lenders who want to offer low-interest green home loans to customers in England. Homeowners and private rental landlords benefit indirectly through lower interest rates on loans for energy upgrades. It is not a direct grant to homeowners or landlords.

The Warm Home Loans Scheme will support private sector lenders to provide low-interest rate finance to homeowners and PRS landlords in the UK who wish to install low carbon home upgrades, including solar PV, batteries and heat pumps. The WHLS will provide a CDEL grant to participating lenders to reduce the principal amount of eligible loans, resulting in a lower interest rate for the borrower.
Private sector lenders apply to participate in the scheme, not individual homeowners directly. Lenders receive a grant to reduce the principal on eligible loans they offer to borrowers. The deadline for applications is 17 July 2026.
