BFI National Lottery Screen Heritage Fund

Overview

The BFI National Lottery Screen Heritage Fund awards National Lottery money to support the UK's public screen heritage sector. It has three strands: Project funding, Resilience funding and Individual Skills funding. Project funding and Resilience funding are for legally constituted organisations that run a screen archive, collection network or something similar. You need the remit to collect and preserve screen heritage collections and make them accessible to the public on a not-for-profit basis. Sound, paper and other static formats do not count. Applications can include workforce development, training and skills for staff. Individual Skills funding is for people who work in the UK screen heritage sector now, or who can show they intend to. You must be 18 or over, have a UK bank account and be eligible to work in the UK. Project funding is open all year round. Individual Skills funding is open on a rolling basis. Resilience funding for 2026-29 closed on 31 March 2026, so that strand is not taking applications at the moment. Timing matters. For Project funding, apply at least 16 weeks before your funded activity is due to start. For Individual Skills funding, apply at least 8 weeks before your training or development opportunity begins. All Resilience and Project funded activity must be finished by 31 March 2029. Successful applications need to address the aims of the BFI Screen Heritage Fund.
