The Dalian Atkinson Legacy Fund, run by Shropshire Community Foundation, celebrates the footballer Dalian Atkinson, who grew up in Telford. Referencing his Aston Villa number 10 shirt, it will award 10 grants of £1,000 to £3,000 (£18,000 in total) to community organisations providing accessible sporting opportunities for young people aged 5 to 25, prioritising grassroots football but also supporting other sport-led activities. Its four priorities are access to grassroots football and sport, inclusion and equal opportunity, wellbeing and personal development, and inspiration, aspiration and leadership. Funding can cover coaching, equipment, participation costs, transport, inclusive activities, mentoring and delivery costs. The fund opened on 2 November 2026 and closes on 14 December 2026; projects must finish within 12 months.
