Blaby District Council's Community Grants help community groups, sports clubs and charities improve facilities or run activities. There are five types of funding, and you use the same application form for all of them. Capital Green grants of up to £5,000 pay for eco-friendly projects, with 20% match funding. Large Capital grants of up to £5,000 cover building work or equipment, with 50% match funding. Small Capital grants of up to £500 cover equipment or start-up costs. Revenue grants of up to £500 cover running costs or events. Everyone Active grants of up to £500 support health and wellbeing projects. The three smaller grants need no match funding. Past awards include £5,000 for solar panels on a village hall, £5,000 for a rainwater harvesting system at a cricket club, and £500 towards a Christmas lunch for older people who would otherwise be alone. The council runs four grant rounds each year. The next deadline is 5pm on Friday 4 December 2026, and the one after that is 5pm on Friday 5 March 2027. The grant panel meets two weeks after each deadline. You should hear the decision by email around three weeks after the deadline. You can hold one grant at a time, and the council usually funds an organisation only once every two years. It may fund more often for projects that tackle special priorities such as climate change and the cost of living. Have your constitution, equality policy, bank statements for all accounts and most recent accounts ready, because the council cannot look at your application without them. At the end of the project you will need to report on how the money helped, send receipts and show how you mentioned the council's support.
