Copeland Community Fund: Enabling Fund

Copeland Community Fund

The Enabling Fund from Copeland Community Fund helps you develop and strengthen a community project. It pays for development and viability work that helps you prepare the next stage of your application, or supports your application to other funders. You can apply for up to £10,000. The fund can support a range of activities, including commissioned training to give your team essential skills for the project, planning fees, pre-planning architect fees, consultation events, feasibility or viability studies, business planning, structural surveys and energy audits. It can also cover third party funding to FCC Communities Foundation (formerly WREN), and essential match funding that shows local commitment to a Heritage Lottery Fund or Arts Council bid. This list is not exhaustive. The fund suits voluntary and community organisations, registered charities, constituted groups and clubs, not-for-profit companies and social enterprises. Public sector bodies can apply for non-statutory activity. The fund has been open since February 2026 and runs on an ongoing basis, so there is no fixed closing date. You should hear back within two weeks of submitting your application. Before you apply, you must contact the Copeland Community Fund team by phone or email to talk through your idea. Social enterprises face extra rules, including having at least three non-related directors and an asset lock in their charitable objectives, so read the exclusions carefully. The fund will not pay for retrospective costs, loan repayments, or buying buildings and vehicles. Official source: https://copelandcommunityfund.co.uk/funding-programs/enabling/.
