East Hampshire District Council gives each of its district councillors a budget to support local voluntary and not-for-profit organisations. If your group works within a councillor's ward, or its work benefits that ward, you could apply for help with your project. The scheme is open now for 2026-27. Each councillor has £7,000 to share out, and a single councillor can award a grant of up to £2,000. You can apply to more than one councillor. The scheme closes on Friday 26 February 2027. You can apply at any point before then, but each councillor's funds can run out earlier. Applications can be made until the councillor has spent all of their allocated funds, so it pays to apply early. This scheme suits charities and community groups with a clear local project and a good link to their ward. Councillors are encouraged to take an active role in deciding where their money goes, so it helps to bring them in early as you develop your idea. The main caveat is that grants are given at each councillor's discretion. You must contact your district councillor, or councillors, before you apply to discuss your project and ask for their support. Applications sent in without their backing may not be approved. The council's Community Development Team can also talk through your proposal and confirm whether your project is eligible. The council publishes criteria and guidance, terms and conditions and the application questions for 2026-27, so you can prepare before you start.
