The Prevention Accelerator is a new fund from South Yorkshire's Community Foundation, run on behalf of South Yorkshire ICB for 2026-2028. It supports not-for-profit groups in Doncaster and Sheffield. The fund helps people who have, or are at risk of, cardiovascular conditions, kidney disease and diabetes, in communities where these diseases are underdiagnosed. The target groups are: - the most deprived communities - Global Majority communities - men aged 40-74 The foundation will favour applications focused on Central Doncaster and Hyde Park, Burngreave and Grimesthorpe, or Woodthorpe, because data shows the highest need there. You can apply for up to £10,000 as a single organisation, or up to £20,000 for partnered working or cross-regional projects. If you want to submit a larger proposal, contact the foundation to discuss it. The programme plans to fund 20 to 25 projects, split evenly between Doncaster and Sheffield. Your project could include physical activity, creative health or green and blue social prescribing, though it is not limited to these. You should include delivery costs and a proportionate, clearly costed contribution towards overheads and core costs. Applications to this first round open on Friday 23 October and close at 5pm on Monday 23 November. Activity and spending should not start before 15 February 2027, and projects must finish by 31 March 2028. Some evaluation with groups may continue for up to three months after delivery. Plan for the reporting commitment. Funded groups must submit bi-monthly monitoring reports using a template provided by the foundation.
