The Torbay Baton of Hope Legacy Fund offers grants of up to £1,000 for community-led projects that help prevent suicide, improve mental wellbeing and build more connected, resilient communities in Torbay. It is supported by Torbay Council Public Health. The fund marks the anniversary of the Baton of Hope, the UK's largest suicide prevention initiative. It came to Torbay on 30 September 2025, when around 3,000 local people and 50 groups supported a relay walk across Torquay, Paignton and Brixham. The fund aims to build on that momentum. Community groups, registered charities, social enterprises and other organisations can apply. Projects the fund might support include: - peer support groups - work to tackle loneliness and social isolation - activities that build connection and belonging - support for people affected by trauma or adverse childhood experiences - gender-based wellbeing projects - outreach with underserved communities - awareness-raising and resilience-building activities - small pilots that could grow or carry on after the funding ends Applications close at 12 noon on Wednesday 11 November 2026. A panel will meet in the week starting 23 November 2026. All applicants will hear the outcome by 4 December 2026. Every project must be finished by 30 September 2027. Projects that match the priorities, objectives and target groups in the One Devon Suicide Prevention Plan will score more highly. Read the full guidance before you apply.
