International Placement Scheme 2026 (Other)

This grant funds placements at international cultural institutions for researchers. You can get between £6,000 and £16,200 to cover your placement costs. You must be either a PhD student funded by AHRC or ESRC, or an early career researcher at a UK research organisation. The money helps pay for your international placement experience. Applications close on 19 March 2026. You need to be based at a UK research organisation that can receive UKRI funding.

This grant is for PhD students who receive funding from AHRC or ESRC, and early career researchers at UK universities or research institutions. You must be based at an organisation that can receive UKRI funding. It is not for established academics or researchers outside the UK.

Apply to undertake a placement at an international cultural institution. You must either be: • a PhD student funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) or Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) • an early career researcher based at a UK research organisation eligible for UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) funding
