Overview
Grants to organisations benefitting older people in Cumbria for initiatives that reduce poverty, improve health, tackle social inequality, and help people reach their potential, or for projects that nurture a sense of place or promote climate action. Donor Legacy gift Background Born in Westmorland, George Kipling lived and farmed at Burgh-by-Sands. He was a man who cared about his community and rural life and was especially concerned about the welfare of children and older people. As a widower with no children, he chose to leave £120,000 of his estate to charity. The executors of his will agreed the best way to fulfil his wishes was to establish two funds at the Foundation, one benefitting children and young people, and the other benefitting older people throughout Cumbria. Who can apply? • charitable not-for-profit organisations Examples of projects supported: • social inclusion activities for isolated older people • local support group for older people affected by heart conditions and strokes • support groups for people with dementia What the Fund will not support in addition to our normal exclusions: • individuals How much can you apply for? Grants will normally be up to £1,000 over one year.
