Falkirk Community Choices Phase 7
Falkirk Council
Community Choices is Falkirk Council's ward-based participatory budgeting programme. Phase 7 is now open. Charities and community groups can apply for up to £5,000 to deliver a project or activity in one of Falkirk's nine electoral wards. Local residents then decide which projects get funded through a public vote. Past winners have included youth and sports programmes, arts and cultural projects, mental health and wellbeing work, support for older people, and projects that help people connect and take pride in their area. The fund suits local groups with a clear idea that residents will want to back. You must submit your completed application by 9 November 2026. Public voting runs from 18 January 2027 to 12 February 2027. Anyone aged 16 or over living in the Falkirk Council area can vote for up to three projects in their own ward. Results will be announced on 18 March 2027, and winning projects start from April 2027. Getting through the application stage does not guarantee funding. To secure money, your project must win at least 10% of the eligible votes cast in its ward. Projects are then funded in order of votes until the ward budget runs out. Votes may be weighted in wards with smaller settlements so that small communities get a fair chance. Some projects cannot be funded, including improvements to public parks, play equipment, CCTV and projects that mainly benefit a school. If your project involves changes to land or buildings, think about the permissions you need and whether you can finish within the programme timeline before you apply. You should also show a commitment to Fair Work First principles, though you can ask for an exemption. Official source: https://www.falkirk.gov.uk/community-choices. Edinburgh Airport Community Fund (Autumn 2026 round)
Edinburgh Airport
The Edinburgh Airport Community Fund helps local communities share in the success of Scotland's busiest airport. It gives grants to charities and community groups working to improve opportunities, facilities and services for local people. The Autumn 2026 round is open now and closes at 00:01 on 13 November 2026, so aim to submit by the end of 12 November. Your project must support one or more of the four pillars of the airport's Greater Good sustainability strategy. These are Zero Carbon, Enhancing Scotland, Scotland's Best Business and Trusted Neighbour. Priority goes to projects that help people living closest to the airport or most affected by aircraft noise and airport operations. Themes include climate action, cutting local environmental harm, biodiversity and rewilding, and local partnerships. They also include skills and jobs for disadvantaged people, support for vulnerable groups, and urgent cost-of-living help. The main fund pays up to £7,000. Gala days, Christmas events and local fairs can apply for up to £750. In some cases the Board may give up to £1,500 for cost-of-living support, such as items for foodbanks. Projects that leave a lasting, tangible impact, or could become self-sufficient, get special consideration. The fund will not pay for one-off costs, salaries, consultant fees, travel, utilities, stationery, IT equipment, perishable or single-use items, running costs or play park equipment. You can only receive funding once every two years, apart from gala and cost-of-living awards. The Board meets on 27 November 2026, and payments usually take about six weeks to process. FEL Scotland Climate Leadership Programme 2026 to 2027
FEL Scotland (Forth Valley Climate Action Hub)
The Climate Leadership Programme 2026-27 is run by FEL Scotland through the Forth Valley Climate Action Hub. It is now open for applications, and this is its third year. The programme helps a group of emerging climate leaders build the skills, confidence and capacity to lead climate action in their own communities. It also builds peer support and helps unlock resources. If you complete the programme, you can receive a small grant of up to £1,000. The money is paid to the constituted community group you represent, not to you personally. It is there to help you show leadership and inspire climate action locally. You can only use it towards climate actions, public engagement or awareness raising in your community. This suits people who are active in a charity, community council, community development trust, community interest company or a similar not-for-profit group with proper governance. Grants are only available to FEL members. Each organisation can receive one grant, although more than one person from the same group may join the programme. The deadline is 5pm on 30 October 2026, so time is short. If you are unsure whether your group qualifies, FEL Scotland is happy to talk it through by email before you apply. One practical point to plan for: the grant must be spent by the end of March 2027. That gives you a short window to deliver your activity once you finish the programme, so it helps to have a clear idea of what you want to do from the start. Clackmannanshire and Falkirk Community Active Travel Accelerator Grants
FEL Scotland (Forth Valley Climate Action Hub)
FEL Scotland, through the Forth Valley Climate Action Hub, is offering Community Active Travel Accelerator Grants for communities in Falkirk and Clackmannanshire. The aim is to make walking, wheeling and cycling more accessible, inclusive and appealing for everyday journeys. The fund backs community-led projects that identify barriers to active travel, gather local evidence, co-design solutions and test practical ideas. These projects should encourage low-carbon travel and support climate action. Funding can pay for engagement activities, campaigns, led walks or rides, place planning, e-bike initiatives and more. There are two options. First Steps Grants offer £500 to £2,000 for groups exploring active travel challenges for the first time. Next Steps Grants offer up to £3,000 for communities ready to pilot ideas and build on work they have already started. Applications are open to eligible community organisations in Falkirk and Clackmannanshire. If your group is just starting to look at how people get around your area, First Steps may suit you. If you have already done some groundwork and want to test something in practice, Next Steps is likely the better fit. Applications are reviewed monthly up until 30 October 2026. However, the grant may close sooner to new applications depending on demand, so FEL Scotland recommends applying ahead of this date to avoid disappointment. Before you apply, read the guidance on making an application and fill in the budget template. Both are linked from the FEL Scotland Climate page.
