Overview
This EPSRC fellowship backs early career researchers who want to build their own programme of work in the mathematical sciences. It is a personal, career development focused award. It suits you if you have recently started shaping your own research ideas. A fellowship can last up to three years. You can hold it part time, at no less than 50% full time equivalent, and the length can then extend proportionally to a maximum of six years. There is no limit on the value of the grant. EPSRC funds 80% of the full economic cost. This covers equipment and other project items, impact costs, and travel and subsistence. It does not cover extra researchers or single items of equipment over £25,000 including VAT. You need a PhD or more than four years of experience in a relevant field by the start of your fellowship, and an eligible UK research organisation must host you. Most of the novelty in your research must sit within EPSRC's mathematical sciences remit, or the application will be rejected. There is no closing date. EPSRC assesses applications as they arrive and holds regular decision points through the year. Applications go through your research office, which submits them for you on the UKRI Funding Service. Requirements to check
You need a PhD, or more than four years of experience in a relevant field, by the start of your fellowship. An eligible UK research organisation must host and support you. The fellowship is for early career researchers who have not held a significant grant before, usually one that included postdoctoral research associate time, capital equipment or more than £100,000 full economic cost. You do not need a permanent academic post. Most of your research novelty must lie within EPSRC's mathematical sciences remit. Uninvited resubmissions are not accepted.
