Full details from GrantScape (funded by REG Windpower)
The Pen Bryn Oer Wind Farm Community Benefit Fund, from REG Windpower and run by GrantScape, has £30,000 a year for community projects in the community council areas of Rhymney and Tredegar, split equally between the two. Groups can apply for £250 to £7,500, but grants above £2,000 are not usually awarded, so applications should explain how a smaller award would work. Examples include community halls and sports facilities, parks and wildlife, community events, education and opportunities for young people, and energy efficiency. It cannot fund commercial organisations, private members-only clubs, projects that only benefit one individual, narrowly religious or party political projects, statutory responsibilities or work that starts before a grant contract is issued. It also excludes trips outside the area and kit for established clubs. There are two rounds a year with £15,000 each; groups can get one grant a year. The next round closes at midnight on 10 March 2027.
