Overview

The Community Foundation Tyne & Wear and Northumberland funds a wide range of causes across the North East. This page is the starting point for applying. It helps you check your eligibility, see which funds are open and register to apply. If a fund with a current call suits your work, you can apply to that. If nothing matches, you can make a general application instead. As long as your organisation is in Tyne and Wear or Northumberland, you can do this at any time of year. Several funds could suit work with people facing hardship. The Mayor's Opportunity Fund backs practical cost-of-living help and offers up to £7,500 on a rolling basis to organisations. The Jackie Haq Fund supports small grassroots organisations tackling domestic violence, poverty, racism, disadvantage and mental health or suicide prevention. It offers up to £1,500 and closes on 23 November 2026. Other funds on the page cover young people, culture, sport, STEM and capital projects. Maximum awards run up to £25,000, depending on the fund.
