Overview
The EPSRC AI ICURe Discover Sprint is a full-time, 4-week programme that helps researchers test whether their idea has real-world demand. You spend your time talking to customers, gathering evidence and challenging your own assumptions about the commercial potential of your research. The programme includes up to £2,500 of support for market discovery activities. It also offers a 2-day in-person bootcamp, online sessions, dedicated mentor support, hands-on workshops on customer discovery, and an introduction to tools such as the Strategyzer Business Model Canvas. It is delivered by the SETsquared Partnership and starts on 23 February 2027. It suits researchers, technicians and students at UK universities and independent research organisations whose work is directly linked to the Turing Fellowships or the AI Centres for Doctoral Training (AI CDTs). You do not need a fully formed idea. The sprint is also a way to think about entrepreneurship differently. Applications open on 7 December 2026 and close at 11:59pm on 18 January 2027. The application link is still to follow on the funder's page. Spaces on each cohort are limited. One practical point to plan for: you will be expected to attend either Tech Show London (10-11 March 2027) or the NVIDIA GTC San José conference (14-18 March 2027), depending on which is more relevant to you. Completing ICURe Discover is also a requirement if you later want to apply for ICURe Explore. Requirements to check
The programme is only open to projects directly linked to the Turing Fellowships or the AI CDTs. You can apply if you are a past or present Turing AI Fellow, or an AI CDT academic, student or technician. Academics working with a Turing Fellow can also apply, but the Fellow must support the application. You need to be based at a UK university or independent research organisation. Approved public sector research enterprises are also welcome. Your course of study, idea or research must be directly related to the Turing Fellowships or AI CDTs.
