Every grant on this page is limited to Merseyside and the Liverpool City Region or to a town, district or council area within it, as named by the funder. Funders with open grants here include Growth Platform, Baltic Ventures and Community Foundation for Lancashire and Merseyside. Because each one is local, far fewer organisations can apply than for a national fund. Grants open across all of North West England are on our North West England page.

High Sheriff and Merseyside Police Charitable Fund
Community Foundation for Lancashire and Merseyside
This Merseyside fund gives grants of up to £3,000 to community groups that help keep people safe and prevent crime. In 2026 the focus is on preventing and ending violence against women and girls, which is the current High Sheriff's priority. Examples include early intervention with boys and young men, support for survivors and their children, and making streets and spaces safer for women. Your group must have been constituted for at least a year and be based in Liverpool, Sefton, St Helens, Knowsley or Wirral. You will need a letter of support, ideally from your local neighbourhood policing team. Applications close on 16 November 2026. Community Foundation for Lancashire and Merseyside
The Pilkington Charities' Fund, now run by the Community Foundation for Lancashire and Merseyside, gives grants of up to £20,000 to well-established groups helping people in the Liverpool City Region. This round is about health. The people you support need a diagnosed condition, such as cancer, depression, a long-term injury, a neurological condition or sensory loss. Crisis mental health support for people who may not yet have a diagnosis can also be considered. You can ask for project or core costs, including staff salaries. Your group must have been running for at least three years, and your request should be no more than half your annual income. St Helens is a priority area. Flexible Growth Fund
Growth Platform
The Flexible Growth Fund is a £20 million fund from Growth Platform. It is designed to enable new economic growth by removing barriers to investment for ambitious businesses. The fund suits businesses in Liverpool City Region that are undertaking an expansion project which will create or secure jobs. If you are planning to grow and your plans would support local employment, this is one to look at. The page lists the fund as a funding programme alongside other support in the region. It gives the size of the overall fund, but it does not state how much each business can receive. It also does not give a closing date or say whether applications are open at the moment. One practical point to bear in mind: the page only gives a short description of the fund. It does not set out further eligibility rules, so you should expect your expansion project to need a clear link to creating or securing jobs in the region. Growth Platform also runs a local business support team that can help you find suitable support and funding. The page invites you to contact your local business support team if you do not know where to start. Official source: https://growthplatform.org/programmes/. Health & Life Science Fund
LYVA Labs
The Health & Life Science Fund offers investment packages to innovators working in health and life sciences. It is run by the LYVA Labs team, which is now actively delivering a pipeline of these packages. Each package is worth between £25,000 and £250,000. Alongside the money, LYVA Labs gives commercial advice. The fund provides start-up funding and support for clinicians, academics and entrepreneurs across the sector. It helps them develop their ideas and improve health outcomes in the region. The fund suits businesses in the health and life sciences sector that are based in Liverpool City Region. Businesses willing to set up there are also covered. It is a good fit if you are a clinician or academic with an idea you want to take further. It also suits an entrepreneur building a new health or life sciences business in the area. This is an investment fund, so the support combines finance with practical commercial help. Think about how both the money and the advice could help you move your idea forward. That will help you get the most from the package. One practical caveat: the fund is ideally for businesses without existing equity investment. To find out more, contact the LYVA Labs team by email or visit the LYVA Labs website. Leadership for Growth
Growth Platform
Leadership for Growth is a programme from Growth Platform, the Liverpool City Region Growth Company. It is designed to develop the capabilities of aspiring managers and leaders. The programme is for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) across Liverpool City Region that have the potential to scale up. It may suit you if you run or work in a growing local business and want to strengthen your leadership and management team. The aim is to help leadership and management teams improve productivity, resilience and business performance. Growth Platform lists Leadership for Growth alongside a wide range of local and national support for people starting or growing a business in the region. This includes funding, support programmes and services for both new and established businesses. One practical point to bear in mind: this is listed as a programme, not as funding. It is also aimed at SMEs with scale-up potential. If you are not sure whether it is the right fit, Growth Platform says its local business support teams can help you find tailored solutions and suitable support and funding. Wirral Together Fund 2026/27
Wirral Council
The Wirral Together Fund is a grants scheme run by Wirral Council. It supports activities that benefit local communities across Wirral, and it is open for applications now. The fund works through your local ward councillors. They decide who receives the grants. Councillors can fund activities in a single ward or across several wards. They use the money to help communities focus on the issues that matter most to them. Each councillor can allocate up to £1,000 per funding year. This is a limit on what each councillor can allocate in a year, not a stated limit for a single grant or applicant, so the amount you receive depends on what your councillors choose to give. The fund suits organisations running community activities in Wirral, especially those based in the ward where the activity happens. Funding is restricted to certain types of organisation. Read the council's eligibility criteria and terms and conditions before you apply. One practical point: the fund is regularly oversubscribed, and councillors often limit funding to organisations based in their own ward. The council suggests you contact your ward councillors to discuss your application before you apply. If you have any questions, you can email the fund team at wirraltogetherfund@wirral.gov.uk. Help to Grow: Management (Liverpool City Region)
Growth Platform
Help to Grow: Management is a 12-week practical programme for leaders of small and medium-sized businesses in Liverpool City Region. It is listed on the programmes and funding page run by Growth Platform, the Liverpool City Region Growth Company. The programme covers all aspects of management. That includes finance and strategies for growth and innovation. The focus is practical, so it suits leaders who want to put new ideas to work in their own business. The page says the programme is for Liverpool City Region SME leaders who have between 5 and 249 employees and have been trading for at least 12 months. Charities are not eligible, so it will not suit voluntary sector organisations. If you are not sure whether it is the right fit, Growth Platform says its local business support teams can help you find tailored solutions and suitable support and funding. The same page lists a wide range of other local and national support for starting or growing a business in the region. This includes a leadership programme, a scale-up programme and free advice services. Before you go further, check your employee count and trading history against the conditions above. They are the eligibility points the page gives for this programme. Official source: https://growthplatform.org/programmes/. Last checked by GrantMatch on 16 October 2026. This listing is the Liverpool City Region page. The same course is available across the UK: see Help to Grow: Management (UK) at https://www.grantmatch.co.uk/grants/help-to-grow-management-uk.

Create free accountBurbo Bank Extension Community Fund
GrantScape (funded by Ørsted)
The Burbo Bank Extension Community Fund offers grants for projects in coastal communities along the Irish Sea. It is paid for by Ørsted, formerly DONG Energy, which built the Burbo Bank Extension offshore wind farm in Liverpool Bay. The wind farm opened in May 2017. Ørsted has committed around £225,000 a year to the fund for the lifetime of the project. You can apply for a grant of between £500 and £20,000. Your project must be located in the funding area, and it must benefit communities there. The area of benefit also covers the coastal tidal zones in line with the onshore areas. It includes the estuary areas of the rivers Dee and Mersey across the 5km line. The fund is open to applications. There are two closing dates each year. The next one is 31 March 2027 at midnight, with decisions by the end of June 2027. The round after that closes on 22 September 2027, with decisions by mid-December 2027. Before you start, use the interactive map on the fund page. You can enter your postcode to see whether your project falls within the area of benefit. If you are unsure, call the GrantScape team. They would much rather confirm this with you before you spend time on an application. Once you are confident about your location, read the Full Criteria carefully to make sure your project is eligible. Plan your timing. Late applications are not turned away, but they move to the next round, roughly six months later. Leave yourself enough time to submit before the closing date.
