Major Grants start at £100,000. Expressions of interest are accepted all year with no fixed deadline. The funder reviews the initial enquiry and gives guidance on the next step, aiming to respond within ten working days. A full proposal is submitted only after the enquiry is taken forward. This response time is not a promise of a funding decision. UK registered charities, CIOs and organisations with exempt or excepted charitable status, with at least one year of accounts. Individuals, CICs, community benefit societies, social enterprises and councils are excluded. Work should benefit the UK; the guidance also permits projects in UK Overseas Territories. Sector-specific restrictions apply to education, hospices, medical research and counselling. Retrospective activity, feasibility studies and one-off events are among the excluded costs. For core costs, annual organisational income must be at least £1 million. For capital or project costs, the total project must cost at least £1 million, regardless of annual income.
