Full details from Northern Powergrid Foundation
The Northern Powergrid Foundation's flagship Energy Resilience Grant offers up to £20,000 to help community organisations strengthen their energy resilience, so community buildings such as village halls and community centres can stay open as safe, warm hubs during storms, floods or long power cuts. Projects can include solar panels with battery storage, backup generators, hook-up points for emergency use and resilient community hubs, plus small energy efficiency measures (draughtproofing, minor insulation, LED lighting, efficient heating controls) as part of a wider resilience plan. The Foundation runs the grant twice a year and is open to expressions of interest now: apply before 20 January 2027. Applications are scored in assessment windows and recommended to the trustees, and the Foundation aims to fund projects across all its regions.
Read the Applicant Toolkit and Grant Making Policy, then log in or create an account on the Foundation's applicant portal (Grant Interface), complete the eligibility quiz and submit an expression of interest. The Foundation replies within 14 working days; if approved, submit the full application with latest accounts, safeguarding policies, match funding details, two comprehensive quotes and an emergency mobilisation plan. Apply before 20 January 2027.
