Full details from SSE Renewables
SSE Renewables' £10 million Hydro Community Fund supports projects for residents of the community council areas that host its hydro power stations across the Highlands, Argyll, Perthshire, Arran and the Western Isles (around 50 areas, from Ardgour, Arran and Blair Atholl to Strathglass, Taynuilt and West Loch Fyne). Its priorities are protecting the natural environment; community transport and low-carbon solutions; affordable, quality housing, including community housing and home energy efficiency; small business and social enterprise growth; community assets and infrastructure such as halls, hubs and paths; and physical and mental wellbeing through arts, culture, sport and recreation. Education, skills and employment projects are also considered. The panel considers requests from £10,000 to £100,000, and groups seeking more in exceptional circumstances must contact the Community Investment Manager first. The current deadline is 10 December 2026, with decisions in February 2027.
Read the fund guidance linked on SSE Renewables' page for this fund, then start an application through the SSE Community Investment Portal (the 'Apply for funding' link on the same page). Saved applications can be finished later by logging back in to the portal. Check that your community council area is on the list, then apply by 10 December 2026 for the February 2027 panel. Talk to the Community Investment Manager before asking for more than £100,000.
