Overview
UK researchers can apply for computing time on European supercomputers, with no cash award. Benchmark and Development access support testing and improving applications; Extreme Scale supports very large research workloads. EuroHPC lists a separate scientific and collaborative-project route. Each mode has its own assessment timetable and technical requirements, so one monthly deadline does not apply to every mode.
Requirements to check
Key requirements:
- Awards are allocations of computing resources. No cash funding is provided, and no monetary award range or programme budget is published for this access listing.
- Benchmark and Development have monthly evaluation cut-offs. Extreme Scale next evaluates proposals submitted by 26 October 2026 at 10:00 CET, which is 9am UK time. Its schedule is not monthly. The next scientific and collaborative-project cut-off is 30 October at 10:00 CET.
- Benchmark allocations last up to three months; Development and Extreme Scale allocations last one year. Resource quotas and technical assessment apply. Use each current call page rather than assuming all routes have the same rules.
UK-based researchers in universities, public-sector bodies and industry, subject to the selected call and EuroHPC access policy. Proposals must demonstrate a suitable technical use for the requested computing resources. Choose the current access mode for your workload; UKRI also mentions Regular Access, but a current open Regular call was not listed on the provider directory at review.
This summary may not include every exclusion. Check the full eligibility rules, including who and what the funder will not support.
