Overview

The Gateway route gives UK-based researchers in academia, industry and other organisations access to the Isambard-AI and Zenith AI Research Resource (AIRR) supercomputers for AI research and development. It suits first-time users of AI supercomputing, testing new algorithms, code and workflows, and benchmarking before applying for larger AIRR opportunities. This is in-kind support, not a cash grant: each successful project gets up to 10,000 GPU hours, to be used within three months of the project start. No funding is provided. Project leads must have a contract with their organisation that lasts longer than the project. The route is open with no closing date. Requirements to check

Open to researchers across the UKRI remit. To be project lead you must have a contract with your organisation that lasts longer than the proposed project. Your organisation must be a UK registered business of any size with a Companies House number, a research organisation eligible for UKRI funding, a charity or a not-for-profit. There is no limit on applications per organisation or researcher, but each must be standalone. Collaborations are welcome, but the route is not aimed at large consortia.

This summary may not include every exclusion. Check the full eligibility rules, including who and what the funder will not support.
