North Yorkshire Staying Healthy, Independent and Connected (SHIC) Grants

North Yorkshire Council

Up to £30,000Health & Social Work, Charities & Non-Profit

North Yorkshire Council is inviting applications to its Staying Healthy, Independent and Connected (SHIC) grants programme. The aim is to help mainly older people stay active, independent and connected to their communities. The programme funds locally based voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) organisations to run community-led activities. These activities should support older people's independence, wellbeing and social connections. It suits charities and community groups that work with older people in one of the 12 listed areas. SHIC is a three-year programme starting on 1 April 2027, with the possibility of a further two-year extension. The maximum annual grant depends on where you work. In Harrogate and Scarborough you can receive up to £30,000 a year. In Selby Town and Rural the limit is £25,000 a year. In the other areas, the limit is £15,000 a year. These areas are Knaresborough, Ripon, Richmond, Catterick and Colburn, Whitby, Helmsley and Kirkbymoorside, Pickering, Malton and Norton, and Sherburn. To get the programme guidance and application form, you email the council. Allow time for a reply before you start writing your application. The deadline is 9am on Monday 23 November 2026. Note the early morning cut-off. Do not plan to finish your application later that day, as you will miss it. Woodsmith Foundation Community Grants

The Woodsmith Foundation

£2,001 - £10,000Charities & Non-Profit

The Woodsmith Foundation's Community Grants fund local projects that do good things in their communities. You can apply for capital or revenue grants of between £2,001 and £10,000. The final 2026 round closes at 10am on 5 November 2026, and there is £120,000 to share in this round. The Foundation will support projects that increase opportunities for better life chances. It also funds projects that improve lives and places, or tackle issues that harm local people. A third focus is bringing people together through local spaces, resources and activities that offer pleasure, learning or community action. Priority goes to projects that support people most at disadvantage, including those facing barriers that lead to inequality. The fund suits organisations working in the Borough of Redcar and Cleveland, the Borough of Scarborough or the North York Moors National Park. Funding is split into two upper limits, with specific categories set out in a table in the 2026 Community Grants Guidance. The guidance also explains which types of organisation can apply and which projects are funded, so read it before you start. You apply through an online form. You can save your progress and come back later. Saved links last 30 days, and file uploads are not saved, so add your files last. If you cannot apply online, the Foundation will work with you to find another way. Keep in mind that you can only apply once in 12 months. If you receive between £7,000 and £10,000, the Foundation will also hold a follow-up meeting with you to discuss outcomes. Official source: https://www.woodsmithfoundation.org.uk/apply-now. North Yorkshire Councillor Locality Budgets 2026/27

North Yorkshire Council

Up to £5,000Charities & Non-Profit

North Yorkshire Council gives each of its councillors a budget of £5,000 a year to respond to local needs. Councillors use it to recommend small amounts of funding for specific activities in the communities they represent. The money supports activities that promote the social, economic or environmental wellbeing of local communities. It can fund projects run by external organisations, or pay for additional services provided by the council itself. This is not a grants programme, and each councillor decides how they wish to promote and use their own budget. The council's page helps you find who your local councillor is. The council publishes every approved allocation, so you can see how the money has been used. Since May 2025, awards have gone to a wide mix of local groups, including parish councils, village halls, schools, scout groups, sports clubs, food banks, festivals and community interest companies. Most awards are a few hundred pounds up to around £1,000, with some larger awards of up to £5,000. Recent examples include Christmas lights, defibrillators, notice boards, speed signs, warm spaces, playground improvements and village hall repairs. This could suit you if you run a small, practical community project in North Yorkshire and your councillor sees it as meeting a local need. Keep in mind that each councillor has a set amount for the year and chooses where it goes, so any funding is entirely at their discretion. North Yorkshire Inspire Fund

North Yorkshire Council

Up to £1,000Health & Social Work, Charities & Non-Profit

The Inspire Fund from North Yorkshire Council offers grants of up to £1,000 to help resident groups and community organisations start something new. It backs new groups, new activities and new ideas, especially where community-led social action can grow and more people can come together to make a positive difference. You can use the money to run new community events or activities, cover start-up costs for new projects or services, or buy small items of re-usable equipment you need for the new activity. Your idea should increase social interaction, encourage neighbourliness, improve wellbeing, or help your community become more resilient and able to respond to local challenges. The fund suits not-for-profit groups based in North Yorkshire, or delivering their project there. Grants are a one-off contribution to the cost of an eligible project. Your application should show how the project can be delivered without needing future support from this fund. Before you apply, you must speak to a member of the local Communities Team. They will talk through your idea and tell you whether it fits the fund. They will then either advise you to apply or point you towards other funding that suits your project better. The council aims to give you a decision within 20 working days of applying. One important caveat: the fund will not pay the ongoing costs of existing projects. It also will not fund large capital items, major building work, ongoing staff costs or repeat events. If the Inspire grant would cover less than 10% of your total costs, your project is not eligible. You can only have one live application at a time, and a single organisation can apply only once every six months. Woodsmith Foundation Small Grants for Everyday Essentials and Activities

The Woodsmith Foundation

£50 - £2,000Charities & Non-Profit

The Woodsmith Foundation offers small grants of between £50 and £2,000 to help organisations do good things in their communities. This is a new offer for 2026. It is designed as a quicker, simpler route for smaller items that need to be bought sooner. Community organisations can use the money to buy the items they need to run their group. All organisations can also apply for kit, equipment, qualifications, or time-limited activities delivered over six months. The guidance document explains in full what you can apply for, so read it before you start. The fund suits organisations working in the Borough of Redcar and Cleveland, the Borough of Scarborough or the North York Moors National Park. The Foundation had smaller grassroots groups especially in mind. If your project is longer or larger, or involves a contribution to a building, the Foundation's Community Grants may suit you better. There is no single closing date. Applications received by the last Monday of each month go to that month's decision panel. You will hear the decision within two weeks. If you are successful, you have six months from the date of your offer letter to spend the grant. Reporting is kept light, with the main focus on a photograph. The total pot for 2026 is £70,000. One practical tip: the online form lets you save and resume, but it does not save file uploads. Upload your files last. If you cannot complete the form online, contact the Foundation and they will work with you to find the best way for you to apply. Official source: https://www.woodsmithfoundation.org.uk/apply-now. Ripon City Council Small Grants Scheme 2026/27

Ripon City Council

Up to £1,000Charities & Non-Profit

Ripon City Council's Small Grants Scheme 2026-27 is an easy access source of funding for local charities and community groups. It is for organisations with charitable status, or that run on a not-for-profit basis, whose work benefits the people of Ripon. You can apply for up to £1,000. The council has funding to allocate across the 2026-27 financial year, and no single grant will be more than that amount. The scheme closes on 30 November 2026. The council will consider all valid applications at its December meeting. It will contact you once your application has been reviewed, so you will hear after that meeting rather than straight away. The council publishes its awards, which shows the kinds of groups it supports. Recipients so far in 2026-27 include Ripon Cricket Club, Ripon History and Archaeology Trust, Ripon City Band, Dementia Forward, Ripon Concerts and Ripon Spa Bowling Club. These awards ranged from £400 to £1,000. In earlier years awards have also gone to groups such as Ripon Men's Shed, Friends of Spa Gardens and Ripon City Panthers Junior Football Club. The council says these grants help local organisations thrive and help develop Ripon as a vibrant place to work and live. Guidance notes, criteria and an application form for 2026-27 are on the council's grants page. Read the guidance notes before you apply, so you know the criteria your application will be judged against. The separate Partnership Funding Scheme, which has made larger awards to the council's community partners, is currently closed to new applications. This listing covers the Small Grants Scheme only. National Grid Yorkshire GREEN Local Community Fund

National Grid (administered by Localgiving)

Up to £20,000Charities & Non-Profit, Environment & Conservation

The Yorkshire GREEN Local Community Fund is run by National Grid Electricity Transmission and managed by Localgiving. It supports projects that bring meaningful and lasting benefits to the people and places hosting National Grid's Yorkshire GREEN construction project. Your project should support one or more of these themes: education and STEM opportunities; protecting the environment and access to green spaces; improving community spaces and saving energy; help with the cost of living and employability; physical health and activity; and mental health and wellbeing. There are three grant sizes. You can ask for up to £5,000 for a feasibility study, such as a disability access review or an energy usage audit. Up to £10,000 is available for other projects, including new work or extensions to past projects lasting up to 12 months. Up to £20,000 is available for capital works on a building or land your organisation owns or leases. The fund suits charities and community groups, parish and town councils with non-statutory projects, and school PTAs or "Friends of" groups. Your project must take place in the area where the construction work is happening. The funder page shows more than one closing date for the current round, so please confirm the current deadline on the official page before you apply. One thing to plan for: you can only apply once per financial year, from April to March, to this fund or National Grid's Community Grant Programme. This rule applies whatever the outcome of your earlier application. For capital projects, any planning or landowner permissions must already be approved before you apply. You will also need at least three quotes from different contractors. Official source: https://localgiving.org/yorkshire-green-local-community-fund. Last checked by GrantMatch on 28 October 2026.
