Stimulus Fund

Suffolk Community Foundation

Up to £1,000East of England

The Stimulus Fund from Suffolk Community Foundation helps charitable, voluntary and community groups to bring more people into tennis in Suffolk. It pays for project costs on small, local grassroots schemes. The fund was set up by the Suffolk Lawn Tennis Association. It wants to take tennis further into the community, both socially and geographically. It also wants to give people who have not had the chance before an opportunity to play. Projects should promote tennis in areas of deprivation, including rural areas, and help people who are disadvantaged or vulnerable. You can ask for up to £1,000. The fund aims to encourage young people up to the age of 30 to enjoy tennis or return to it. The emphasis is on increasing membership and making tennis sessions sustainable. Activity camps that include other sports can also be considered, as long as tennis is a major part and an experienced tennis coach supports the sessions. The fund is open all year round. Decisions are made on a regular basis as demand dictates, so there is no closing date to work towards. One practical point to note: any application that involves tennis coaching should only be undertaken by qualified LTA coaches. The page also says social enterprises cannot apply to this fund. If you have questions, you can call a Grants Officer at Suffolk Community Foundation on 01473 602602 before you submit your application. Essex Community Foundation General Grants

Essex Community Foundation

Funding amount not listedEast of England

Essex Community Foundation accepts grant applications all year round, so you can apply when you are ready. If your charity, voluntary or community organisation is based or working in Essex and needs financial support, the foundation may be able to help. Its team works to match your funding needs with the criteria of one of the many charitable funds it manages. As well as these year-round programmes, the foundation runs specific funds and programmes that open at different times during the year. Its Current Grant Opportunities page shows which of these are open now. Before you start, the foundation recommends booking a call with one of its Grants Officers. They can talk through your project, advise on eligibility and explain which funds currently have money available. This can help you decide whether to apply before you spend time on a full application. You can also try the quick eligibility quiz and read the help and guidance for applicants. One practical point: your application is matched to a fund with its own criteria, so the right fit depends on what you need the money for and where your work happens. Talking to the team first is the best way to find out. The foundation also has a small amount of funding for individuals who live, or have lived, in Essex, Southend or Thurrock. This mainly helps children and young adults where money is a barrier. It uses a separate route from the organisation application. East Cambridgeshire Facilities Improvement Grant

East Cambridgeshire District Council

Up to £10,000East of England

The Facilities Improvement Grant from East Cambridgeshire District Council helps to develop and improve community facilities that make life better for people in East Cambridgeshire. It pays for capital projects only. That could mean improving or building a village hall, community centre, sport and leisure centre, play facility or public open space. Ongoing running costs are not eligible. Your project must fit one of four categories: community centres or village halls, multi-purpose sports and leisure centres that serve the general public, play facilities, or open spaces. The council looks mainly for evidence that you have assessed local community needs. You can ask for up to £10,000. The fund is open all year round, so there is no closing date. You can apply online, or download the application form as a PDF and return it to the council. Applicants typically include parish or town councils in East Cambridgeshire, charities, companies limited by guarantee, industrial or provident societies and community interest companies. There is one important caveat. If a parish holds unallocated Section 106 or Community Infrastructure Levy money that covers the full cost of your project, you cannot apply. If that money falls short of the total cost, you can apply for the balance, up to £10,000. Non-parish council applicants should check with their parish council first. To find out about S106 funding, email FIG@eastcambs.gov.uk or call 01353 665555. Only £30,000 is available each year across all projects, so not every eligible application may be funded. Each organisation can apply once in a financial year. Official source: https://eastcambs.gov.uk/services/community-safety-and-wellbeing/grants-and-community-projects/facilities-improvement-grant. South Cambridgeshire Community Chest Grants

South Cambridgeshire District Council

Up to £2,000East of England

The Community Chest from South Cambridgeshire District Council gives small grants to voluntary and community groups, charities and public sector bodies that want to improve quality of life in South Cambridgeshire. The amount available for 2026-27 is £64,890. You can ask for up to £2,000 in any single financial year, and this can cover 100% of your project costs. If you are awarded less than £2,000, you can apply again in the same year, as long as the total stays within £2,000. The grant can pay for improvements to community buildings and spaces, repairs to historic buildings, monuments and memorials, equipment, materials, and start-up costs for new projects. Your project must meet a local need, leave a legacy for the community and ensure equality of access. It must also support at least one aim: healthy and active communities, inclusive communities, developing skills, or enhancing the natural environment. You will need to show you have considered a green option when buying items. There is no single closing date. Applications must be received by the seventh day of a month to be considered at that month's Grants Advisory Committee meeting. Meetings are held most months, subject to scheduling and the availability of funds. The grant cannot pay for ongoing running costs such as salaries or rent, events that have already taken place, or fundraising events. Your project also needs the support of all local District Councillors for the ward concerned. The separate Biodiversity Grants stream is currently closed for applications. Harwich Haven Authority Fund

Suffolk Community Foundation

Up to £5,000East of England

The Harwich Haven Authority Fund, run by Suffolk Community Foundation, pays for core costs and project costs for charitable activities in parts of Suffolk. It is open now and closes on 26 October 2026. You can ask for up to £5,000 a year. Multi-year funding may be considered, for up to 3 years, so the most you could receive is £5,000 per year over that time. If you want multi-year funding, say so on your application. The fund is for charitable, voluntary and community groups. Social enterprises can apply too. Your activities must be delivered in the Suffolk postcodes IP1 to IP15. The fund backs projects that do one or more of these things: promote interest in water-based activities, support careers in the maritime sector, maritime safety and the welfare of mariners, protect the environment, or help local communities by improving children's education or people's physical and mental health and wellbeing. It also supports people who are under-privileged or socially excluded, and the LGBTQIA+ community. In this round, the panel is especially keen to see projects that benefit the environment, build community resilience and improve health and wellbeing through nature-based work. One practical point: the foundation asks you to read its grantmaking guidelines before you apply, so you can check that you are eligible.
