Help the Homeless Grant Scheme

Help the Homeless

Up to £5,000

Help the Homeless is a small trust that gives grants of up to £5,000 to charities working with people who are homeless. The money is for capital projects only. It does not pay for running costs, core costs or salaries, and it cannot consider requests for computers and IT equipment. The scheme suits small charities. You must be registered with the Charity Commission in England, Wales or Northern Ireland, or be a registered Scottish charity. Your annual turnover must be under £500,000. Your charity must work wholly or mostly with homeless people. The trust does not fund general community work, foodbanks or projects that are not focused on homelessness. Applications are taken four times a year. The deadlines are 5pm on 20 March, 20 June, 20 September and 20 December. The next one is 5pm on 20 December 2026. The trustees will tell you their decision within eight weeks of each deadline. The trust says its funds are limited, so it asks you to check carefully that both your organisation and your project meet the criteria before you apply. It does not consider multi-year requests. If you receive a decision or a grant, you need to wait at least two years before you apply again. You must apply through the online form. Postal and email applications are no longer accepted. Places of Worship Renewal Fund

Historic England

£10,000 - £1m

The Places of Worship Renewal Fund, run by Historic England, pays for urgent repairs and essential improvements to listed places of worship in England. It funds capital works that keep buildings safe, open and in public use. Grants range from £10,000 to £1,000,000. The money is split into three streams: small grants of £10,000 to £50,000, medium grants of £50,001 to £350,000, and large grants of £350,001 to £1,000,000. Any listed place of worship in England can apply, whatever its faith or denomination, as long as it is an active place of worship. The building must be listed at Grade I, Grade II* or Grade II. Priority goes to projects in the most deprived areas of England and to those that bring the most community benefit. The fund aims to repair and safeguard historic places of worship, help them stay active as community spaces, and strengthen the long-term resilience of the building so future repair costs fall. You start with a short expression of interest (EOI). If it is successful, you will be invited to make a full application. The first round EOI deadline of 14 June 2026 has passed. Further rounds follow from September 2026 and in future years, and the fund closes on 31 March 2030 at 11:59pm. The fund is competitive, and not all applications will succeed. If your project is not yet well developed, you may wish to wait and apply in a later round. Official source: https://www.find-government-grants.service.gov.uk/grants/places-of-worship-renewal-fund-1. Last checked by GrantMatch on 16 October 2026.

Deadline

Heritage at Risk Capital Fund

Historic England

£100,000 - £1m

The Heritage at Risk Capital Fund from Historic England pays for the repair and conservation of historic buildings and sites at risk across England. It is a four-year fund with up to £60 million still to be allocated to 2030, following £15 million invested in its first year. You can apply for grants to conserve, repair or convert listed buildings of all grades, historic buildings in conservation areas, registered parks and gardens and scheduled monuments. The fund aims to remove or reduce risk for priority heritage assets, bring historic buildings back into safe and productive use, and target England's most disadvantaged communities. Priority goes to projects in areas with the highest levels of deprivation and need for investment, and to those that bring the most community benefit. You apply in two steps. First you send a short expression of interest through an online form. If it succeeds, you are invited to make a full application. The first round of expressions of interest closed on 7 June 2026. Further rounds follow from August 2026 and in future years, and the fund closes on 31 March 2030 at 11:59pm. One practical point: you must have legal responsibility for the repair of the property, for example as owner or as leaseholder on a full repairing lease. The fund is competitive, and not all applications will succeed. If your project is not developed enough yet, you may want to wait and apply in a later round. Official source: https://www.find-government-grants.service.gov.uk/grants/heritage-at-risk-capital-fund-1. Last checked by GrantMatch on 16 October 2026.

Supporting capital projects within Gateshead

Community Foundation Tyne & Wear and Northumberland

Up to £25,000

The Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) Fund supports capital projects within Gateshead. It is run by Community Foundation Tyne & Wear and Northumberland and is listed among the funds currently accepting applications. The fund is for organisations. Individuals are not listed as eligible applicants. Your project needs to be in Gateshead. You can ask for up to £25,000. The page does not give a minimum award. This is a rolling grant, so there is no closing date on the listing. You can apply at any time while the fund stays open. If you are applying to the Community Foundation for the first time, you will need to register an account on their grantee portal before you can apply. The funder also has an eligibility guide for new applicants, a set of FAQs and a Help and Support page if you would like some guidance first. One practical point to keep in mind: the page gives only a short description of this fund. The full fund details are on its own "Read more" page, so it is worth reading that carefully to confirm what counts as a capital project before you start your application. Official source: https://www.communityfoundation.org.uk/apply/. Last checked by GrantMatch on 16 October 2026.

Current listings exclude closed deadlines and duplicate pages. A missing deadline does not mean applications are open. Latest listing update: 22 October 2026.
