Energy and Net Zero Grants for UK Organisations and Property Owners
A guide to energy, heat and net zero grants in the UK for 2026, covering the Boiler Upgrade Scheme, EV chargepoint grants, community energy funding and larger manufacturing funds, with how to apply.
Energy grants in the UK split into two worlds, and mixing them up wastes time. One funds property and heating improvements. The other funds organisations, businesses, charities, community buildings and manufacturers, for larger projects. This guide covers both, since we list grants from each, and shows you which fits your situation.
Property and heating grants
If you own a building, home or commercial, and want to improve how it is heated or powered, these are for you.
- Boiler Upgrade Scheme pays £5,000 to £7,500 towards a heat pump or biomass boiler in England and Wales, open until 2028. You apply through an MCS-certified installer rather than directly.
- Electric vehicle chargepoint grant for residential landlords helps landlords install charging points for tenants, worth up to £100,000.
- Workplace Charging Scheme covers £300 to £350 per socket for businesses and charities installing EV chargers for staff and fleets.
Some household support is not a grant at all. ECO4 and the Warm Home Discount run through energy suppliers, so your supplier and GOV.UK are the right starting points for those.
Community and organisation energy grants
Community buildings, charities and sports clubs are often eligible for energy funding that private homes are not.
- Heat Network Efficiency Scheme offers £5,000 to just under £10 million to improve existing communal or district heating, open until 2028.
- Energy Saving Grant from Sport Wales funds energy improvements for sports clubs and facilities, up to £25,000.
- Business chargepoint funding from the Energy Saving Trust supports EV infrastructure for organisations.
Community benefit funds attached to wind farms also pay for local energy and environmental projects, and new ones open across Scotland and England regularly.
Manufacturing and supply chain
The largest energy funding backs the companies building the technology, not the ones using it.
- Heat Pump Investment Accelerator puts up to £30 million behind UK heat pump manufacturing, closing 5 August 2026.
- Great British Energy Supply Chain Fund supports offshore wind and network supply chains at scale.
These suit manufacturers and developers able to deliver large projects.

How to apply, and what you will need
Energy grants tend to want proof of the current situation and a credible plan:
- an EPC or a recent energy audit showing where you are now;
- quotes from installers, and for heating grants an MCS-certified installer, since many schemes pay the installer rather than you;
- building or property details, and ownership or landlord permission where relevant;
- for larger schemes, the expected energy or carbon saving the work will deliver.
Getting the survey and quotes done is usually the slowest step, so start there rather than with the form.
What tends to rule you out
- The scheme covers one nation only and your building is elsewhere.
- You want the grant paid to you, but it only pays an accredited installer.
- The property or organisation type is outside scope, for example a scheme limited to social housing or to sports facilities.
