Overview

HMGCC funds a 12-week challenge to build a machine learning tool that identifies electronic components from x-ray images. The total budget is up to £60,000, and up to two proposals may be funded. Sole innovators, industry and academic or research organisations can apply until 29 October 2026.

  • Applicants must deliver a demonstrator at Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 5 within the 12-week project period.
  • The solution must use x-ray images as its primary source of analysis.
  • Solution providers or direct collaboration from countries listed by the UK government under trade sanctions or arms embargoes are not eligible.
  • Deliver a demonstration to the sponsors, along with the software, source code and a report detailing how it functions.
  • Run on commercially available hardware.
