Overview

This challenge is run by Innovate UK Business Connect through the iX programme. It is looking for software engineering innovators to work with openSPDM. The work involves connecting openSPDM to Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools, which are used to design and simulate complex systems. You would help extract system structures, define key parameters, run simulation models, and feed results back into openSPDM. No funding amount has been published for this challenge.

Requirements to check

Who can apply:

Key requirements:

  • Must have software engineering capability relevant to MBSE and simulation
  • Must be able to develop or industrialise the openSPDM solution
  • Must be able to interface with Model-Based Systems Engineering tools

This summary may not include every exclusion. Check the full eligibility rules, including who and what the funder will not support.

Who is this for?

This is for software engineering businesses or innovators with expertise in Model-Based Systems Engineering, simulation tools, or systems integration. It suits companies that can build or adapt software to connect engineering design tools with simulation environments. It is not suitable for businesses outside the software engineering or digital engineering space.

Full details from Innovate UK Business Connect

The iX programme is supporting openSPDM to find innovators who can provide a software engineering capability to industrialise and further develop the openSPDM solution for interfacing to Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) solutions, extracting the system architecture definition (system element structure), define key parameters and values as Innovator Items, rolling up the executable models attached to the system structure, launching a 1D simulation code and recovering the results to openSPDM.

How to apply

Apply through the Innovate UK Business Connect iX programme portal. The iX programme connects innovators with industry challenges, so you will likely need to submit a response to this specific challenge brief. Check the Innovate UK Business Connect website for the full application process and any expression of interest requirements.
