Overview
Innovate UK Business Connect is running this challenge on behalf of Tekh. It is looking for hardware businesses that can develop small, lightweight, low-power computing hardware for AI at the edge. Edge AI means running artificial intelligence directly on a device, rather than in the cloud. The challenge focuses on how much AI computing power can be reduced while still delivering useful results in tough, restricted environments. The deadline to apply is 6 November 2026.
Requirements to check
Who can apply:
Key requirements:
- Must be capable of developing low Size, Weight, Power and Cost (SWaP-C) computing hardware
- Must support Edge AI inference in constrained operational environments
This summary may not include every exclusion. Check the full eligibility rules, including who and what the funder will not support.
This is for hardware businesses that design or manufacture computing components and can develop small, lightweight, low-power AI hardware. Full details from Innovate UK Business Connect
The iX programme is supporting Tekh to identify innovative hardware partners capable of developing low Size, Weight, Power and Cost (SWaP-C) computing hardware for Edge AI. The challenge will investigate how far AI compute can be reduced while retaining sufficient inference performance to deliver useful capability in constrained operational environments.
Apply through the Innovate UK Business Connect platform as part of the iX programme. The process connects innovative hardware businesses with Tekh as the end customer. Check the Innovate UK Business Connect website for the full application steps.
