The Charity Service Cinderella Grants (respite and short breaks)
The Charity Service
Cinderella Grants from The Charity Service help pay for respite care, short breaks, holidays, out of school clubs and group activities for children and young people aged under 25. The children and young people must be sick, have special educational needs or disabilities, or be disadvantaged for another reason. The activity should give them a positive experience and give their parents, carers and family a short period of rest. You can apply as a registered charity, constituted community group or CIC. Professionals such as social workers and teachers can also apply on behalf of a child or young person. Grants are for residents of Greater Manchester, East Lancashire, North East Cheshire and North West Derbyshire. Individual applications can receive up to £1,000. Group applications can receive up to £3,000, although the average grant tends to be around £1,000. The next deadline is 4.00pm on 27 November 2026, and the grants committee meets on 18 December 2026. A later round closes at 4.00pm on 5 February 2027, with decisions on 26 February 2027. Further rounds for spring 2027 will be announced. Before you apply, contact Pete Yarwood to talk through your idea and get an application form. You only need basic information at this stage, and he can confirm whether you are eligible. Keep in mind that the funder will normally only pay for respite where the family cannot afford it, or where the local authority cannot provide it. Every application must be approved before the activity takes place, because grants are never paid retrospectively. Individual applications must be completed by a sponsor, such as a social worker, GP or teacher, who knows the family well. Official source: https://charityservice.org.uk/for-grant-applicants/. The Charity Service Greater Manchester Grants
The Charity Service
The Charity Service's Greater Manchester Grants support charities and community groups helping people who are disadvantaged, sick, disabled or living in poverty across Greater Manchester. The fund has three priorities. The first is preventing homelessness, through activities and services that tackle it. The second is reducing social isolation, backing work whose main purpose is to help people feel more connected. The third is support for vulnerable families and children, meeting their immediate needs when they face difficult, precarious or unsafe situations. You can ask for help with activity and project costs, capital costs or core running costs. The most you can receive in any one year is £3,000, and the average grant is around £1,000. About 40% of completed applications succeed. The fund normally focuses on groups that are rooted in their community, encourage participation, involve volunteers, have been active for at least three years, have a track record of delivery and spend no more than £1m a year. The next deadline is on 27 November 2026, and the grants committee meets on 18 December 2026. A further round closes on 5 February 2027. Requests of up to £1,000 are assessed as quickly as possible. Larger requests go to the committee. The funder invites you to get in touch to talk through your idea and to receive an application form. Grants are not paid retrospectively, so you cannot claim for costs you have already incurred. For requests over £1,000, you may be asked for a strategy document, a budget or cashflow forecast and an impact report. Official source: https://charityservice.org.uk/for-grant-applicants/. Oglesby Spotlight: Local Climate Action (Greater Manchester)
The Oglesby Charitable Trust
The Oglesby Charitable Trust is running an open Spotlight fund for local climate action in Greater Manchester. It has £100,000 to share in grants of between £500 and £5,000. The money supports work with local people that takes nature-based action on climate change. Your work should feature one or more of three themes. Representation means empowering people who are often left out of climate action because of their age, disability, gender, race or income. Cohesion means bringing different groups of local people together around climate action, building connections and tackling inequalities. Participation means giving people agency and a sense of ownership over shared work. The fund suits small charities, CICs and community groups with an annual income under £250,000. You do not need to be an environmental organisation. The trust welcomes community development groups, youth organisations, health and wellbeing projects and neighbourhood groups, as long as your work engages communities directly with local, nature-based climate action. Funding is flexible. You can ask for unrestricted funding, core running costs, project delivery, continuation funding or capital purchases. The trust asks that you do not include building costs or contributions to large-scale capital projects. The fund is open now and closes on 3 November 2026. Each organisation may submit only one application per round. The fund is aimed at groups that have never been funded by the trust, so current and past grantholders cannot apply. Only shortlisted applicants will be contacted. If you have not heard by 16 December 2026, your application was not successful this time. Live Well Community Fund - Coaching Grants
Action Together
This fund pays for one-to-one coaching for local leaders in voluntary, community, faith and social enterprise (VCFSE) organisations in the Rochdale borough. It is run by Action Together, with funding from the Live Well Fund. The aim is to give community leaders time, headspace and support to reflect on their wellbeing, their leadership and the difference they make. Around 20 leaders will receive a grant. The page says many leaders never get the chance to step back, because they are busy keeping an organisation or service running. The grant amount depends on the coaching quote you receive. The estimated cost is £700 to £850, and the most you can receive is £1,000. The fund is rolling. There is no fixed closing date. It will close once the money has been used up, so it is worth applying sooner rather than later. When making decisions, Action Together looks at clarity of goals, personal benefit, benefit to your organisation or community, commitment and readiness, and equity and access. One practical point: you need to be a member of Action Together to apply. Your work should also focus on social justice or social change, and your organisation needs a turnover below £1m. Rochdale Communities Fund - Seed Fund
Action Together
The Seed Fund gives grants of up to £500 to small, unconstituted groups in Rochdale Borough. It also suits groups preparing to become social enterprises, such as Community Interest Companies. The money helps you develop an idea or project into a sustainable, long-term organisation that benefits the borough. It is funded by Rochdale Borough Council's Adult Social Care team and run by Action Together as part of the Rochdale Communities Fund. Your project must fit one or more of two priorities. The first is challenging poverty and driving equality, for example through practical support, advice or peer support, reducing inequalities and strengthening community voice. The second is promoting health and wellbeing, for example supporting social, mental and physical wellbeing, working with marginalised groups whose needs are not met by existing services, and building strong relationships in and across communities. There is no fixed closing date. This is a quarterly rolling programme. The fund pauses when the money available for that quarter has been allocated, and it reopens the following quarter. You do not fill in the form on your own. You meet a Community Development Worker to talk through your idea and answer some basic questions. They then complete the application for you and submit it. Action Together makes the decision. It looks for groups that are compliant, competent and comprehensive, which means you are setting up or ready to set up a formal group, you have a good relationship with your worker, and you have a clear need and plan for the money. One practical point: you must be a member of Action Together CIO and have at least three people actively involved. Groups that have already had a Seed Fund grant cannot apply again. Duchy of Lancaster Benevolent Fund (Greater Manchester Lieutenancy)
The Duchy of Lancaster Benevolent Fund is a registered charity set up with the consent of His Majesty The King. It gives donations to community-based organisations and charitable causes that benefit local people. The fund covers Greater Manchester, Lancashire and Merseyside. This listing is for applications from Greater Manchester. The fund supports a wide range of community projects. It is particularly keen on work that benefits local communities and disadvantaged groups, and work that supports older people, vulnerable people and those in need of care. It also funds work that gives young people opportunities and education, strengthens community connections, or preserves and enhances local heritage, buildings or community assets. Money is typically used for specific projects or activities, equipment or one-off costs, and initiatives with a clear and measurable community impact. Grants are usually between £250 and £5,000, and most awards are around £2,500. A regional panel meets quarterly to review applications and looks at each one case by case. Priority goes to projects with a strong local impact, new applicants, work that shows clear need and benefit, and projects that support community collaboration. The fund especially encourages groups that have not had this funding before. One thing to plan for: the fund does not pay ongoing running costs or salaries. It will not fund the same organisation again within three years. It suits a defined project or a one-off purchase rather than core costs. Rochdale Recovery Micro Fund £1k
Action Together
The Rochdale Recovery Micro Fund gives small grants of up to £1,000 to help strengthen Rochdale Borough's recovery community. It is run through Rochdale Borough Council and managed by Action Together. The money can help you try out a new project or keep an existing one going. Projects must directly benefit local people and communities. The fund suits small, unconstituted groups and individuals who are rooted in the borough and linked to the Rochdale Recovery Communities Partnership. The fund's priorities are: - creating a visible and positive recovery community - recognising the importance of early intervention for substance and alcohol use - ending stigma for people who use substances and alcohol - raising awareness of these issues in a non-stigmatising way - widening the support available for people in recovery, and creating shared opportunities for learning and engagement in the wider community There is no fixed closing date. This is a rolling pot, and it will close once the funds have been used up. If you are interested, it is sensible to apply sooner rather than later. The grant is paid to your Rochdale Recovery Communities partner, not to you directly. That partner will also help you complete the application form and must sign it. If you are not yet linked to a partner, the page gives a contact who can connect you. Action Together also offers members development support, training and other infrastructure alongside the grant funding.
