Arnside & Silverdale National Landscape Grants Fund

Arnside & Silverdale National Landscape Partnership and Landscape Trust

Up to £4,000Environment & Conservation

The Arnside & Silverdale Grants Fund offers grants of up to £4,000 for projects that conserve, enhance or connect people to the Arnside & Silverdale National Landscape. The National Landscape Partnership and the Landscape Trust run the fund together. The fund backs a wide range of work. A nature project might protect local plants and wildlife, restore or create habitat, help priority species, or improve understanding of ecological networks. You could also apply to improve the coast or seascape, or to restore cultural and historic features. People and place matter too. The fund supports projects that help more people access and enjoy the area, especially those who might not otherwise get the chance. It is also interested in sustainable tourism, appropriate recreation, and work that researches, interprets or celebrates the area's nature, history and culture. Projects that connect people with the landscape are welcome, particularly projects for children and young people. So are projects that promote traditional rural skills, involve local communities or volunteers, or help communities move towards sustainable low carbon living. To apply, email the team and ask for an application form. One important point: you must read the guidance notes before you apply. This helps you make sure your project meets the fund criteria. A list of example projects funded between 2016 and 2022 is also available if you want inspiration. Official source: https://www.arnside-silverdale.org.uk/grants/arnside-silverdale-grants-fund. English Lakes Hotels Trust Fund

Cumbria Community Foundation

Up to £1,000Education, Health & Social Work, Charities & Non-Profit

The English Lakes Hotels Trust Fund is run by Cumbria Community Foundation, with money given by the donor, English Lakes Hotels. It supports two groups: employees of English Lakes Hotels who are nominated by the company, and charitable or not-for-profit organisations delivering community projects in Windermere, Ambleside, Morecambe and Lancaster. These are the areas where the hotels are based. Grants will normally be up to £1,000 over one year. That makes the fund a good fit for small, focused pieces of work rather than large projects. Priority goes to projects that address hardship, help families in crisis, promote education (especially internships and apprenticeships), or support the Christian church and community projects. Examples the funder gives of past support include funeral costs for a family experiencing hardship and premises hire for a hub for homeless young people. All applications are made through the foundation's online application portal. The foundation has a step-by-step portal help guide to walk you through it. If you have questions about the fund, you can contact Siona Hartley at the foundation on 01900 820824 or by email at siona@cumbriafoundation.org. One thing to keep in mind: awards are described as "normally" up to £1,000, and priority is given to the themes above. Make sure your project connects clearly to one of them, and to one of the four towns, before you apply. Official source: https://www.cumbriafoundation.org/fund/english-lakes-hotels-trust-fund/. Lancaster District CVS runs the fund on behalf of the Eric Wright Charitable Trust, through the LDCVS Bay Foundation. This fund suits small groups with modest budgets. Your organisation must have an annual income of less than £50,000. You do not need to be a registered charity to apply, so unregistered community groups can apply too. The fund is open now and you can apply at any time. Decisions are made in the middle of the month after you apply, so plan ahead if your activity has a fixed start date. If you have had a grant from this fund before, you are welcome to apply again. Lancaster District CVS publishes guidance notes with more information about the trust. The team can answer questions about the fund and how to fill in the form. One practical point to keep in mind: the fund is only for organisations with an annual income below £50,000. Banks Lyon Memorial Trust Step Up Fund (Lancaster District)

Lancaster District CVS (Banks Lyon Memorial Trust)

Up to £250Education

The Step Up Fund helps young people in the Lancaster District take their next step into education, training or work. Lancaster District CVS runs the fund in partnership with the Banks Lyon Memorial Trust. It is for young people aged 16-24 who live in the Lancaster District and face social or financial barriers, or both. A grant pays for goods and services that help you overcome those barriers, with the aim of getting into education, training or employment. Grants are up to £250 per person. The amount depends on your need. One thing to know before you apply: the money is not paid to you directly. LDCVS spends the grant on your behalf, buying the goods or services you need. The fund is open now and you can apply at any time. There is no closing date. LDCVS aims to make a decision within two weeks, so the fund can help when you need support quickly. You can apply yourself. Someone else can also refer a young person for consideration, which is useful if you work with young people who might benefit. If you have questions, want to apply or want to refer a young person, contact Catherine Westwell at Lancaster District CVS by email. The fund suits young people who know what is holding them back and need a small, practical boost to get past it and move towards learning or work. Walney Extension Community Fund

GrantScape (funded by Ørsted)

£500 - £50,000Charities & Non-Profit, Environment & Conservation

The Walney Extension Community Fund gives grants to projects in coastal communities along the Cumbria and Lancashire coast. GrantScape runs it and Ørsted pays for it. It is linked to the Walney Extension Offshore Wind Farm in the Irish Sea, about 19km off Walney Island. Ørsted has committed around £600,000 a year for the lifetime of the wind farm. You can apply for between £500 and £50,000. Your project must be located in the funding area and must benefit communities there. The area also covers the coastal tidal zones directly in line with the onshore areas. GrantScape has an interactive map where you can enter your postcode to see if you are inside the shaded area. If you are unsure, the team would rather you call them before you spend time on an application. There are two funding rounds each year. The current round closes at midnight on 8 January 2027, and decisions will be made by the end of March 2027. The next round closes on 23 June 2027, with decisions by the end of September 2027. Late applications are moved into the following round, about six months later. Each year, £100,000 of the money is set aside for a separate Skills Fund. It has its own process and closing dates. You can apply to both funds at the same time. However, if one fund gives you a grant, your application to the other may not get priority over groups applying for the first time or those turned down before. Walney Extension Skills Fund (STEM)

GrantScape (funded by Ørsted)

£10,000 - £100,000Education

The Walney Extension Skills Fund pays for STEM education projects that help people in the Fund's benefit area build their skills and improve their job prospects. GrantScape runs it. Each year, up to £100,000 of the main Walney Extension Community Fund is set aside for it. You can apply for between £10,000 and £100,000 per application. The fund supports training or educational courses, a one off event, or a programme of targeted events. It can help you support, enhance or expand an existing local STEM project or network, such as a STEM festival, engagement day or pop up event. It can also fund new and innovative work for any age range, from early years through primary, secondary, further and higher education. Examples include wind turbine kits for school science classes, resource packs and extra curricular activities. The fund suits experienced organisations that can develop and deliver STEM learning. Third sector organisations and experienced consultancies are both welcome. Your project must take place within the Fund's benefit area, but it can focus on just one part of it. Projects can last up to two years, and previous applicants are welcome to reapply. The closing date is midnight on 24 March 2027. Final decisions are due by the end of May 2027. Take care with the date. It is different from the main Community Fund deadline, and late submissions will not be considered. One thing to watch: if your organisation already holds a live STEM grant from this fund, you cannot apply. You can only send one application to this fund. You may apply to the other Ørsted Skills Funds at the same time, but each needs a separate application. Official source: https://grantscape.org.uk/fund/wecf-the-skills-fund/.
