N-CODE Innovation Challenge: the future of neurological healthcare

Innovate UK Business Connect

Up to £30,000England

The N-CODE Innovation Challenge wants concepts, ideas and innovations that could fundamentally change how neurological care is delivered in the NHS. It is run by N-CODE, a programme led from the University of Plymouth, and promoted by Innovate UK Business Connect. There are two routes. Industry-led proposals from UK-registered businesses can win up to £12,000 each, with 3 to 5 winners. Academic-led proposals from researchers eligible for UKRI funding can win up to £30,000 each, with 3 winners. Projects run for up to eight weeks, and winners present at a showcase event in London, expected in June 2027 (travel and accommodation reimbursed). The challenge is particularly interested in wearable technology, digital biomarkers, AI and mathematical modelling that move care from hospital to community, from analogue to digital, and from sickness to prevention, for conditions such as epilepsy, dementia, stroke and functional neurological disorder. You do not need a finished solution. Proposals that would need new NHS ethics approval are out of scope. Applications close at 5pm on 18 November 2026. BFI Skills Fund Pilot Projects: Call 1, Professional Development Framework

British Film Institute

Up to £150,000England

This is the first open call in the BFI National Lottery Skills Fund Pilot Projects programme. The programme runs between 2026 and 2029 and pays for pilot skills projects that could help the whole UK screen sector. Call 1 funds the development and piloting of a professional development framework for technical and craft skills in screen, along with associated pilot training activity. The framework should professionalise these skills and set out what people need to progress into and through technical and craft roles, across all grades. It should also help skills move more easily into screen from adjacent sectors such as live music and theatre. Once delivered, the aim is to broaden access to work, support sustainable work for individuals and improve worker retention. You can apply for up to £150,000. The BFI expects to make just one award, so this is a competitive call. Funded projects should offer learning and insights that could benefit the wider screen sector. The deadline is midday on 24 November 2026. The BFI expects to make awards within 12 weeks of the call closing. Your organisation must be legally constituted and centrally managed in the UK. Limited companies, community interest companies, local authorities, charities and trusts, including universities and colleges, are all listed as eligible. If you are successful, you will need to credit BFI National Lottery funding prominently and thank National Lottery players. European Space Agency: Smart and Resilient Energy Systems

The European Space Agency (ESA) is inviting proposals for operational solutions that use space technology to make electricity grids more resilient: better at anticipating problems, operating through them and planning for the long term. Solutions should focus on protecting critical infrastructure, climate resilience and emergency preparedness. Battery Innovation: Feasibility Studies Rd 3

Innovate UK on behalf of the Department for Business, Innovation, Science and Trade (BIST).

£70,000 - £500,000England

Innovate UK is offering grants for feasibility studies that develop battery technologies and strengthen the UK battery supply chain. This is round 3 of the Battery Innovation Programme, delivered on behalf of the Department for Business, Innovation, Science and Trade. Up to £25 million is available across the competition, subject to enough high quality applications. You can ask for between £70,000 and £500,000 in grant. Projects must last 6 to 18 months, start no earlier than 1 May 2027 and end by 31 March 2031. The grant covers a share of your eligible project costs: up to 70% for micro and small organisations, 60% for medium sized organisations and 50% for large organisations. The competition suits collaborative projects that trial novel battery technologies, adapt existing materials, processes or equipment for batteries, or take scientific advances towards commercialisation. Projects can cover raw materials, material processing, cell production, module and pack integration, or recycling and the circular economy. They should target sectors such as automotive, aerospace, rail, maritime, battery energy storage or dual-use defence. The lead must be a UK registered business of any size, and the consortium needs at least one UK registered micro, small or medium sized enterprise claiming grant funding. Academic institutions cannot lead. The competition opened on 11 September 2026 and closes at 11:00am UK time on 2 December 2026. Applicants are expected to be told the outcome on 12 February 2027. One practical caveat: this is a competitive process, and Innovate UK suggests you could have a 25% chance of success. There are two strands, and you cannot transfer an application between them, so make sure you apply to the feasibility studies strand. Sustainable Medicines Manufacturing Innovation: CR&D Round 2

Innovate UK

£500,000 - £1mEngland

Innovate UK is working with the Department of Health and Social Care to invest up to £7 million in sustainable technologies for making medicines. The money is a grant. The full amount depends on enough high quality applications being received. The competition backs projects in three areas: green chemistry, circularity, and productivity and resource efficiency. Your project must also deal with two enablers: regulations, and measurements, standards and data. You need to show significant, measurable improvement in at least one of productivity, waste reduction, emissions reduction, energy use reduction or resource efficiency. Your claims must be backed by baseline measurements. It suits collaborative projects where the technology is already at Technology Readiness Level 6 or above and can move up by at least two levels towards use in a manufacturing environment. At least one UK micro, small or medium sized enterprise must be in the consortium and claiming grant funding. Your proposal must show how the project helps that enterprise grow. Each project can request between £500,000 and £1 million in grant. Projects must last 9 to 12 months, start by 1 April 2027 and end by 31 March 2028. The share of costs Innovate UK pays depends on the size of your organisation and whether the work is industrial research or experimental development. Applications opened on 5 October 2026 and close at 11:00am UK time on 2 December 2026. Be realistic about the odds. The page says experience from similar competitions suggests a 15% chance of success, and a high scoring project may still go unfunded. Projects on non-human medicines or medical device manufacturing are out of scope. Defra is investing up to £5 million in Round 10 through its Farming Innovation Programme, delivered with Innovate UK. It opened on 8 October 2026 and closes at 11am on 2 December 2026. Projects must test something that tackles a real challenge or opportunity on the farm or just after the farm gate, and must have the potential to improve productivity, resilience, sustainability or progress towards net zero. A key part is sharing: your proposal must show how other farmers, growers or foresters in England could benefit. Your project's total eligible costs must be between £50,000 and £200,000. It must last 6 to 24 months, start by 1 April 2027 and end by 31 March 2029. Funding is a grant, and the competition is competitive with a fixed budget. The lead must be an active commercial farming, growing or forestry business in England, and must collaborate with at least one other farming, growing or forestry business in the UK. Working with other organisations, such as universities or businesses, is encouraged. Universities cannot lead, and charities and CICs cannot lead. Co-operative members should apply individually. If you have not used Innovate UK's system before, the ADOPT Facilitator Support Grant (closes 11 November 2026) pays £2,500 towards an expert to help you apply, and a Support Hub is available for questions. Do not start the project until Innovate UK has approved your grant offer letter. Who it suits: groups of farmers or growers with a practical trial idea and partners lined up. It suits UK registered businesses of any size that have, or can find, a Singapore business to work with. You can lead a project as long as your organisation is a UK registered business. Your Singapore partner must also be a registered business, and it must be a separate entity with no links to you or your other UK project partners. Transferable Audio-Visual Equipment on Rail Replacement Coaches

The Department for Transport

Up to £99,999England, Wales, Scotland, North East England, North West England, South East England, South West England

The Department for Transport is offering up to £2 million in grant funding to help coach operators buy transferable audio-visual equipment for rail replacement services. The equipment lets coaches give clear, audible and visible journey information, including next stop announcements, as the Public Service Vehicle (Accessible Information) Regulations 2023 require. Full requirements apply from 1 August 2026. The grant reimburses up to 75% of the cost of the equipment. It suits coach operators in England, Scotland and Wales who run, or are able to run, rail replacement services. Operators with recent rail replacement activity may be eligible for higher levels of support, in line with their level of service. Screens and portable induction loops can also qualify, as long as they move easily between vehicles and either produce compliant journey information or support equipment that does. The scheme is open now and closes at 12pm (midday) on 18 December 2026. It runs for six months, or until the funding is fully allocated, so it may close sooner. Applications are assessed weekly as they arrive, and the page says you can expect a decision within about a week. Funding is paid after purchase. You need to cover the upfront cost yourself and provide evidence of purchase. Equipment that needs permanent fitting to a vehicle is not eligible. Only one successful application is allowed per applicant, and meeting the criteria does not guarantee funding. Forest Creation Grant (National Forest)

The National Forest Company, Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs

Funding amount not listedEngland

The Forest Creation Grant is run by the National Forest Company for landowners and tenants within the National Forest, or close to its boundary, in the Midlands of England. It funds tree planting and forest creation that benefits nature, communities and local enterprise, for schemes from 0.25 hectares upwards. The grant works from a menu of standard-cost items, each with a fixed rate paid either once or annually. The National Forest says these rates are benchmarked against national tree-planting and agri-environment grants and reviewed every year. The listing does not give a maximum grant per applicant. Examples of funded farm projects include wood pasture with tree clusters and shelterbelts for shade and outwintering, mixed orchard trees as small-scale silvopasture on hard-to-manage former arable fields, and shelterbelts along watercourses to reduce flood risk and protect water quality. Individuals, landowning businesses, incorporated organisations, partnerships and community groups can apply if they can enter a legal agreement and show legal control of the land. Larger or more complex schemes may need a Single Business Identifier from the Rural Land Register. The grant does not fund schemes under 0.25 hectares, planting required by planning conditions or felling licences, work already funded elsewhere, buildings or vehicles, work started before an offer, or Christmas trees. Grants are competitive. The scheme opened on 1 April 2026 and closes at 11:59pm on 31 January 2027. The best first step, the National Forest says, is a visit to your land from one of its advisers. Contact it through its tree planting page. Who it suits: farmers in or near the National Forest planting shelterbelts, wood pasture or new woodland. Commissioned Rehabilitative Services General Grant Scheme

Ministry of Justice

£8,000 - £450,000England, Wales

The Commissioned Rehabilitative Services General Grant Scheme is run by the Ministry of Justice. It helps Her Majesty's Prison and Probation Service protect the public and reduce reoffending. The grants pay for support for people with shared protected characteristics or shared experiences, and for work that promotes rehabilitation and desistance. The scheme has three aims. It wants to improve people's engagement in, and experience of, probation and other rehabilitative activities. It wants to support an individual's rehabilitation and desistance journey. It also wants to improve the service's knowledge of which activities work. England and Wales are divided into 12 probation regions. Each region has a yearly budget to commission rehabilitative services. The scheme lets the service award multiple competed general grants across these regions. It suits non-profit making organisations that want to support people on their rehabilitation journey. You do not apply straight away. First you register your interest on the Probation Grants Applications Portal. You will give basic contact details, the legal structure of your organisation, and declare any organisational convictions or offences. The page lists a closing date of 29 March 2027 at 5:00pm. The first competed process covered several probation regions and focused on people from ethnic minority groups. Any changes to dates are communicated through the grants portal, so keep an eye on it once you have registered. The page also links to guidance on probation services grants and a step-by-step guide to registering. Music Export Growth Scheme

Department for Business and Trade and Department for Culture, Media and Sport

£5,000 - £50,000England

The Music Export Growth Scheme, known as MEGS, gives match-funding to help UK-based music acts grow their business abroad. It pays towards marketing and promotion campaigns, usually linked to international tours. Applications normally come from music management companies or record labels that meet SME criteria. They apply on behalf of an act that has already had reasonable commercial success in the UK and now wants to break into other countries. You can claim no more than 50 per cent of eligible expenditure. The costs that count are external costs to the label or management, not normal running costs. No UK activity can be funded. Campaigns might include launch marketing, PR, advertising, radio and TV plugging, showcases to secure distribution or licensing deals, personal appearances, and tour support so the artist can perform in the target market. Your application needs evidence that you meet the SME criteria, evidence of UK sales and success, proof of interest from the target market, a full marketing plan for the territory, an indicative budget and a list of the UK companies working with the artist. Funding is tied to the ambition of the project, measured by financial commitment, sales targets and business outputs. Outputs act as key performance indicators, such as leads generated and pursued, deals done and media coverage. The scheme opened on 1 December 2025 and closes at 11:59pm on 31 March 2027. The page says there will be further funding rounds up to that date. One thing to keep in mind: you must not have received any other public funds towards the same project. Office for Zero Emission Vehicles

Up to £100,000England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland, North East England, North West England, South East England, South West England

This grant helps landlords pay for electric vehicle chargepoints at residential properties. It covers 75% of the cost of buying and installing chargepoints, up to a maximum of £500 per socket. You can receive grants for up to 200 sockets per year. It suits organisations that own or manage rented homes. That includes landlords with property to let, right to manage and residents' management companies, freeholders of blocks of flats, charities that own or manage residential property, registered social housing providers, public sector organisations, property management companies and property factors in Scotland. The aim is to help people living in flats, rental accommodation and apartment blocks to use electric vehicles. The property can be in England, Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland. Properties in the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man are not eligible. You must be registered at Companies House or VAT registered with HMRC. Each parking space must be off-street, private, clearly defined and accessible to your tenant. The scheme is open now and closes on 31 March 2027 at 11:59pm. Funding is confirmed until that date. The government reserves the right to end or change the scheme, and aims to give 4 weeks' notice if it does. Here is the key caveat. Do not install the chargepoint before the Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV) confirms you are eligible, or you cannot apply. You must also use an OZEV-authorised installer and an eligible residential chargepoint. The grant cannot be given where installation is a mandatory requirement, for example under building regulations or a planning condition. People and Research

Historic England

£250 - £300,000England

The People and Research Scheme from Historic England pays for activities that help people understand, enjoy and champion the historic environment. That includes engagement, skills, training, education and project-based heritage posts. It also supports research, such as scientific and technical conservation, surveys and investigations, publication, archiving, toolkits and guidance. The scheme aims to build the skills and capacity of local communities, so they can help look after their own local historic environment. It also backs best-practice standards for conserving, documenting, interpreting and managing heritage sites. Funding is available for projects that help national third-sector organisations rely less on public funding and work more effectively with the historic environment. It suits a wide range of organisations, including local authorities, educational institutions, charitable trusts and registered companies. Individuals can apply too, if they can show they are self-employed or a sole trader. Applications opened on 1 April 2026 and close at 11:59pm on 31 March 2027. One thing to plan for: your activity must meet at least one of four grant priorities. These are connecting more people with heritage, improving civic pride, prosperity and wellbeing, securing a positive and sustainable future for historic places, and helping heritage play a part in tackling climate change. Improve Animal Health and Welfare: funded vet visits for cattle, pigs and sheep

Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs

£258 - £1,844England

Improve Animal Health and Welfare (IAHW) pays for a vet of your choice to visit your farm in England and look at the health and welfare of your cattle, pigs or sheep. It is part of Defra's Animal Health and Welfare Pathway and is run by the Rural Payments Agency. The visit is advice and testing, not an inspection. There are two kinds of funded visit. An animal health and welfare review tests for endemic disease (cattle and pigs) or checks how well wormers are working (sheep), and the vet advises on welfare and productivity. After a review you can choose an endemic disease follow-up, with more in-depth testing and a biosecurity assessment on the same herd or flock. For visits from 22 January 2026, GOV.UK lists these payments. Reviews: beef cattle £647, dairy cattle £447, sheep £574, pigs £648. Follow-ups: pigs £1,087, sheep £658, beef cattle £954 with a persistently infected (PI) hunt or £258 without, dairy cattle £1,844 with a PI hunt or £258 without. The Defra Farming blog says you need at least 11 cattle, 21 sheep or 51 pigs. Under one agreement you can have up to 3 reviews and up to 3 follow-ups across one or more of the eligible species. Follow-ups must be within 10 months of the review and at least 10 months apart. The service ends on 19 June 2027, so all visits must be done by then, and claims must be in by 19 September 2027. Most importantly, apply for your IAHW agreement before any visit, testing or sampling. Work done before the agreement is in place is not funded. Applying online takes about 5 minutes. If you are a vet yourself, another vet must do the visit. Official source: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/farmers-how-to-apply-for-funding-to-improve-animal-health-and-welfare. Opportunities for the Advanced Research and Invention Agency (ARIA)

Advanced Research and Invention Agency

£10,000 - £10mNational (UK-wide)

The Advanced Research and Invention Agency (ARIA) funds breakthrough research and development that is too speculative, too hard or too interdisciplinary to be funded elsewhere. It is an R&D funding agency created by an Act of Parliament and sponsored by the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology. ARIA's work is shaped by its Programme Directors. Each one develops a concrete vision for how technology could enable a better future, then directs funding into research that can make it real. They keep creative control over what R&D they fund, who they fund and how. The first step is to define opportunity spaces. These are areas that matter a great deal to society, are under-explored for their potential impact, and are ready for new talent, perspectives or resources. Funding then flows through programme and seed funding. This listing is open now, with a closing date of 16 January 2028 at 11:59pm. ARIA welcomes applications from across the R&D ecosystem, including individuals, universities, research institutions, small, medium and large companies, charities and public sector research organisations. It is keen to try structures that are not typical in academic research. Examples include early career researchers as project leads, or funding more than 80% of a senior academic's time so they can focus fully on their ARIA project. You can submit more than one proposal to a funding call, as long as each one is a distinct project. Each proposal is judged on its own against the call's criteria. One practical point: Programme Directors launch opportunity space and programme funding calls, and current and past calls are listed on the ARIA website. UK Global Screen Fund: International Distribution (P&A Support)

British Film Institute

Up to £100,000England

This fund helps UK films reach wider and higher profile international cinema audiences. It is part of the UK Global Screen Fund, and the British Film Institute is the funder. The money goes towards prints and advertising costs, usually called P&A, for cinema releases outside the UK. Funding can support the P&A costs of a grouping of international distributors who are releasing a UK film. If your film is an animated feature or a documentary feature, funding can instead support a single international distributor. In both cases the release must be in cinemas. The grants are non-recoupable. They go to films with clear appeal to identified international audiences and strong potential for commercial success. So the fund suits films with a clear international audience in mind. Applications must come from the UK-based sales agent appointed to sell the film internationally. If no sales agent has been appointed, the lead UK producer of the film can apply instead. This is the key practical point to settle before you start. The fund opened on 1 April 2023. It is open now and closes at 11:59pm on 31 March 2028. You can also sign up for updates about this grant on the Find a grant service. Youth Jobs Grant

Department for Work and Pensions

£3,000England, Wales, Scotland, North East England, North West England, South East England, South West England

The Youth Jobs Grant helps employers in Great Britain recruit young people who may otherwise find it hard to enter the labour market. It is part of the Youth Guarantee and is run by the Department for Work and Pensions. It is meant to add to your existing recruitment activity, not replace it. You can receive £3,000 for each qualifying job outcome. The money is paid in stages. You get £1,800 from 6 weeks and £1,200 after 18 weeks, once earnings have been verified through HM Revenue and Customs Real Time Information. The young person you hire must be aged 18 to 24, on Universal Credit and out of work for at least 6 months. The job must be registered with the scheme. The page says the scheme is expected to be open to employers of all sizes and sectors. To take part, you must operate in Great Britain, be registered with HMRC, be actively trading with at least six months of trading history, and pass due diligence checks. A central team at the Department for Work and Pensions assesses applications before your participation is confirmed. The scheme opened on 30 June 2026 and closes to new participants on 31 October 2028 at 11:59pm. It aims to support up to 60,000 job opportunities over three years. One practical point: no payment is made until all relevant checks are complete. The government also reserves the right to end or change the scheme. If that happens, it aims to give 4 weeks' notice and will honour claims made before any public announcement. Official source: https://find-government-grants.service.gov.uk/grants/youth-jobs-grant-2. UK Global Screen Fund International Distribution Festival Launch Support

British Film Institute

Up to £15,000England

This fund from the British Film Institute helps UK films make a strong start on the international stage. It is the International Distribution Festival Launch strand of the UK Global Screen Fund. Its aim is to grow the international reach and value of UK films by supporting their launch at international festivals. The grants are non-recoupable. They help with the cost of enhanced publicity and marketing activity. They also help with the technical and logistical costs that come with a high-profile festival launch. The fund is for UK sales agents and UK producers. When you apply, you should show how you will use a festival premiere to enhance the promotion, reach and value of your UK film internationally. Applications are accepted all year-round. The scheme opened on 1 April 2023 and closes on 31 March 2029. Timing still matters, though. You must submit your application at least four weeks before the official start date of the festival where your film is launching. Public and bank holidays do not count towards those four weeks, so build in extra time. You apply online through the government Find a grant service. UK Global Screen Fund (UKGSF) International Distribution Video Game Release funding

British Film Institute

£5,000 - £50,000England

This fund from the British Film Institute helps UK video games reach players abroad. It pays non-recoupable grants, which means the money does not have to be paid back from game sales. It supports the marketing, promotional and technical costs of releasing a UK game in international territories. The aim is to grow exports and global demand for UK independent narrative video games. The fund wants to help them secure wider and higher profile releases. The BFI will back games that have clear appeal to identified international audiences and strong potential for international sales. Your game can be in any language. The fund suits UK-based development studios. The application must come from the studio that is the lead developer for the game. The fund opened on 1 April 2026 and closes at 11:59pm on 31 March 2029. That is a long window, but it is still worth planning your release costs and your target audiences early, so your case for international appeal is clear. One practical point to keep in mind. You can apply for a single game per application, and you can only make one application per game. If your studio has more than one game, each one needs its own separate application. Choose the game with the strongest international case. UK Global Screen Fund: International Business Development

British Film Institute

Up to £100,000England

The UK Global Screen Fund: International Business Development, from the British Film Institute, offers non-recoupable grants for international growth strategies. Your strategy needs to span three or five years. The funding supports UK companies to develop and expand their turnover and the scale of their Intellectual Property (IP) creation, exploitation or acquisition. It is aimed at screen content across film, TV, animation and interactive narrative video games, and it helps companies to enhance their international activities. This fund suits independent UK screen companies that already have a track record in creating, acquiring and/or exploiting IP. That track record must be in at least one of three areas. The first is feature films, whether fiction, documentary or animation, for theatrical and/or online release. The second is programmes, whether fiction, documentary or animation, for broadcast television, video-on-demand services or other online release. The third is interactive narrative video games for commercial digital platforms, where the games generate revenue from the public consumer market. The scheme opened on 1 April 2023. It is open now and closes on 31 March 2029 at 11:59pm. You can start an application through the Find a grant service, and you can also sign up there for updates about the grant. One practical point: this is about a longer-term plan. You will need to set out a growth strategy that runs for three or five years, so it suits companies that are ready to plan ahead.
