Vattenfall Clashindarroch Wind Farm Community Fund

Foundation Scotland

From £500Scotland

The Vattenfall Clashindarroch Wind Farm Community Fund, run by Foundation Scotland, supports charitable, community-led projects in the areas served by the community councils of Huntly, Strathbogie and Tap o'Noth, and the area served by Cabrach Community Association. The money comes from Vattenfall, the owner of Clashindarroch Wind Farm in Aberdeenshire. The main programme has three sizes of grant: small grants of £500 to £5,000, medium grants of £5,001 to £25,000, and large grants over £25,000. Grants can pay for equipment, running costs for local groups, consultations, staff salaries directly related to project delivery, and maintenance or refurbishment of community facilities. Projects should fit one or more of seven priorities, which include community services and facilities, culture and recreation, the natural environment, rural regeneration, local heritage, young people, and resilience for people experiencing disadvantage. The next application deadline is 13 January 2027, and the Panel meets on 15 March 2027. The Panel meets three times a year. Some smaller schemes can be applied for at any time: Volunteer Development Bursaries, Resilience Hub Support, and swimming lessons and school transport costs. Micro grants of up to £500 are also available through each community council and Cabrach Community Association. One practical point to plan for: large grants need an expression of interest first, and they are for capital improvements to an existing community facility. You will also need to show how you have thought about local suppliers, partnership working, building local skills and matched funding. Clyde (Dumfries and Galloway) Community Fund

Foundation Scotland

Funding amount not listedScotland

The Clyde (Dumfries and Galloway) Community Fund from Foundation Scotland backs charitable activities that improve quality of life, bring people together and help communities thrive. The money comes from the owners of Clyde Wind Farm and is shared between twelve local communities. You can ask for a wide range of costs. These include equipment, running costs for local groups, staff or sessional worker costs, consultations, and maintenance or refurbishment of community facilities. There is no fixed grant size. Small grants go up to £5,000. Standard grants start at £5,001 and have no upper limit, but you should talk to the funds adviser first if you plan to ask for more than £20,000. Grants can be multi-year, usually for no more than three years. The current round closes on 18 January 2027. A community panel is due to meet around 17 March 2027 to make its recommendations. You do not need to be a registered charity, but your project must clearly benefit at least one of the twelve fund areas. If it reaches more than one area, you should estimate how many beneficiaries are in each. One practical point to keep in mind: each community has its own pot, and the amounts differ a lot. The current round has £771,556.57 in total, from £19,503.58 for Kirkconnel and Kelloholm to £143,803.57 for Carronbridge. Some areas may already have allocated their funds, so it is worth looking at the area figures before you start. It is run by Foundation Scotland and paid for by Westfield Wind Farm Limited, part of Nadara. The fund backs charitable activities that fit the Cardenden Community Action Plan. The themes are community and recreation facilities, environment and heritage, community safety and infrastructure, and a sustainable Cardenden, including local jobs. Projects that contribute to the plan are particularly welcome. Other requests are also considered, such as equipment, running costs for local groups, staff or sessional workers, consultations, and maintenance or refurbishment of community facilities. Groups and organisations can apply. You do not need to be a registered charity, but you must operate on a not-for-profit basis and meet the standard eligibility criteria. The panel particularly welcomes groups that have not applied to the fund before. The next application deadline is 1 February 2027, for a decision in early April 2027. A further deadline follows on 2 August 2027, for a mid October 2027 decision. A local panel of residents and community councillors makes the decisions. Foundation Scotland

The Glenkens & District Community Fund, run by Foundation Scotland with the Glenkens and District Trust, supports projects that help local communities become connected, resilient and carbon-neutral places. The money comes from the Blackcraig and Windy Rig wind farms in Dumfries and Galloway. Around £250,000 is available each year. Standard grants run from £500 to £25,000. Projects must be in, or directly benefit people from, ten community council areas: Balmaclellan, Balmaghie, Carsphairn, Corsock & Kirkpatrick Durham, Crossmichael & District, St John's Town of Dalry, Dunscore, Glencairn, New Galloway and Kells, and Parton. Multi-year awards are sometimes considered for up to three years, with a cap of £25,000 per year and £75,000 in total. Grants over £25,000 follow a two-stage process, starting with an enquiry. The fund's priorities are a connected community, an asset rich community, an economically flourishing community and a carbon neutral community. Projects that fit the Glenkens & District Community Action Plan get priority, though every project is judged on merit. The fund also favours partnership working, local suppliers and long-term thinking. The fund has two deadlines a year. The next application deadline is 10 March 2027. Groups do not need to be registered charities. One practical point: groups can submit more than one application in a fund year (June to May), but each application must stay within the maximum grant level. Carcant Wind Farm Community Benefit Fund (Moorfoot)

Foundation Scotland

£250 - £1,500Scotland

The Carcant Wind Farm Community Benefit Fund (Moorfoot) is run by Foundation Scotland. It pays for community projects that benefit people living in the Moorfoot Community Council area in Midlothian. The money comes from Greencoat UK Wind, the owners of the nearby Carcant Wind Farm. You can ask for between £250 and £1,500. Grants can cover a wide range of costs, such as equipment, staff or sessional workers, consultations, running costs for local groups, and maintenance or refurbishment of community facilities. The fund backs activities that improve quality of life for local residents, help build vibrant, healthy and sustainable communities, and encourage community spirit. The panel would particularly welcome projects that help the local environment or tackle climate change locally. This fund suits groups and organisations working to benefit people in the Moorfoot area. You do not need to be a registered charity, but you must meet Foundation Scotland's standard eligibility criteria. Groups based outside the fund area can apply, but they are considered case by case and must show a clear benefit for residents inside it. There is no closing date. Applications are accepted at any time and usually take 6 to 8 weeks to process, though it can take longer. A local Community Panel makes recommendations on awards. One caveat to note: the fund cannot support anti-wind farm or anti-renewable energy activities, or anything that brings Greencoat UK Wind or Foundation Scotland into disrepute. Read the application criteria before you start. Official source: https://www.foundationscotland.org.uk/apply-for-funding/funding-available/carcant-moorfoot. Kipling Fund for Older People

Cumbria Community Foundation

Up to £1,000North West England

The Kipling Fund for Older People from Cumbria Community Foundation gives grants to organisations that benefit older people across Cumbria. It supports initiatives that reduce poverty, improve health, tackle social inequality and help people reach their potential. It also backs projects that nurture a sense of place or promote climate action. The fund is open to charitable not-for-profit organisations. The page gives examples of work it has supported. These include social inclusion activities for isolated older people, a local support group for older people affected by heart conditions and strokes, and support groups for people with dementia. Grants will normally be up to £1,000 over one year. Awards are small, so plan a focused project that fits within that amount. The fund began with a legacy gift. George Kipling was born in Westmorland and lived and farmed at Burgh-by-Sands. He cared about his community and rural life, and about the welfare of children and older people. He left £120,000 of his estate to charity. The executors of his will set up two funds at the Foundation, one for children and young people and one for older people throughout Cumbria. One practical point to note: the fund does not support individuals, in addition to the Foundation's normal exclusions. All applications are now made through the Foundation's online application portal, and the page links to a step-by-step help guide. If you have questions about the fund, you can contact Sarah Thompson on 01900 820 821 or at grants@cumbriafoundation.org. Hadyard Hill Community Fund (Pinwherry & Pinmore)

Foundation Scotland

£500 - £25,000Scotland

The Hadyard Hill Community Fund supports charitable projects in Pinwherry and Pinmore, South Ayrshire. It is funded by SSE community benefit money from the Hadyard Hill wind farm. Foundation Scotland runs it with a local advisory panel. Standard grants range from £500 to £10,000. Large grants run from over £10,000 up to £25,000. Around £50,000 in total is available each year, although amounts vary from round to round. Awards can cover equipment, running costs for local groups, staff or sessional worker costs, consultations, and the maintenance or refurbishment of community facilities. Projects should support the rural regeneration and sustainability of the area. You do not need to be a registered charity to apply. The panel may give priority to projects that build community leadership, help communities take ownership of assets, bring in match funding, use local suppliers, care for the environment, show local consultation and work in partnership. Groups can apply for more than one grant a year. A separate small grant scheme for awards up to £500 is run by Pinwherry and Pinmore Community Council. Decisions on those are made on a rolling basis. One practical point: the application dates listed on the page are all from 2022, so no current closing date is shown. Pre-application enquiries are welcome, so it is worth talking to the Community Funds Adviser before you start. Age Friendly Activities Fund

Cumbria Community Foundation

Up to £5,000North West England

The Age Friendly Activities Fund from Cumbria Community Foundation gives small grants to help older people in the former South Lakeland district take part in community life. It backs small-scale projects that make a real difference. Priority goes to small, grassroots and volunteer-led groups, community-led projects with strong local engagement, work that reaches older people in rural, deprived or underserved areas, and proposals with lasting impact or sustainability. It does not support individuals either, and the foundation's normal exclusions also apply. You apply through the foundation's online application portal.
