Bath & West Community Energy Fund
Quartet Community Foundation
The Bath & West Community Energy Fund gives grants of up to £5,000 to community projects in Bath and the surrounding area that cut carbon emissions or tackle fuel poverty. The money comes from Bath & West Community Energy (BWCE), a community enterprise that develops community-owned renewable energy, and Quartet Community Foundation runs the grants. Carbon reduction is not limited to energy projects. It can include local food, sustainable transport, waste reduction or any other activity that reduces emissions. The fund receives fewer applications about fuel poverty and affordable warmth, so it particularly welcomes them. Money is limited: in the 2025 round, 25% of applications were successful. The current round opened on 25 September 2026 and closes at 1pm on 29 October 2026. Decisions are emailed within eight weeks of the closing date. Sanctuary Services Grants - 2027 - 2030
Sanctuary Services, Bristol City Council
Bristol City Council's Sanctuary Services team is offering grants to voluntary, community and social enterprise organisations that deliver services and support for sanctuary seekers in Bristol. The money supports the Bristol Sanctuary Strategy and Action Plan 2025-2030. Sanctuary seekers here means people seeking asylum, people who have recently received refugee status, resettled refugees, Home for Ukraine participants and people with no recourse to public funds. You need to say clearly which groups your proposal will support. Projects should deliver against three outcomes: meeting basic needs, promoting opportunities, and resilient and compassionate communities. The council expects to award about 8 to 12 grants. The indicative value is £100,000 to £350,000 per grant over three years, with delivery expected to start on 1 April 2027. The fund opened on 16 October 2026 at 9:00am and closes on 16 November 2026 at 6:00pm. Clarification questions must be in by 10 November 2026 at 12:00 midday. The council expects to notify applicants of its decisions on 17 December 2026. One important point: this round is invite only. It is limited to organisations the council has invited, including voluntary, community and social enterprise organisations that helped deliver the Sanctuary Strategy Action Plan last year. If you have not been invited, you cannot apply in this round. Applications go through the online portal. You will complete the application form and upload a budget and delivery template and governance evidence. Guide
Checked 21 October 2026 against the official sources linked.
County community foundations
Somerset, Devon, Dorset, Gloucestershire, and Wiltshire and Swindon each have a community foundation, and Quartet Community Foundation covers the Bristol area. They run funds for particular places and causes, and they are often the best first call for a small local group.
Source: Somerset Community Foundation, Devon Community Foundation, Dorset Community Foundation, Gloucestershire Community Foundation, Wiltshire & Swindon Community Foundation
Councils and councillor grants
Councils such as Plymouth and Cornwall run community chests and councillor grants for local projects. They are usually small and quick, and they can help match a larger grant from another funder.
Major local employers and projects
Big local operations, such as Bristol Airport and the Hinkley Point C power station project in Somerset, fund community grants for the areas around them. Look for the area of benefit and the themes they want to support, which are often skills, the environment and getting people active.
Rural and coastal communities
Transport, isolation and seasonal work are common themes in rural and coastal parts of the region. If your project responds to these, explain the local picture plainly, such as bus links, distances or how winter changes things for the people you work with. Funders who do not know your area will rely on what you tell them, so a short, concrete description goes a long way.
Who funds this
25 different funders in total. Where a maximum award is stated, the middle value is £5,000.

City Change Fund
Plymouth City Council
The City Change Fund is listed by Plymouth City Council on its community and local grants page. The page says the fund supports projects for local people. It sits under a heading that also mentions crowdfunding. The wider page is for local community groups and voluntary sector organisations looking for grants and funding in Plymouth. If you are thinking of applying, the council points you to the Plymouth Octopus Project (POP). You can contact POP for support and advice about how your organisation can apply for funding. The page gives no award amount, closing date or opening date for the City Change Fund. It is a short listing rather than a full guidance page, so it is worth speaking to POP before you plan your project. The same page lists other sources of support in the city. These include the Living Streets grant, which lets councillors direct funding to highways issues in their wards, and councillor community grants, which help not-for-profit groups and organisations in the city. It also points to the UK Community Renewal Fund on the Visit Plymouth website and to grants for the armed forces community. A practical point: because the page says so little about the City Change Fund itself, getting advice from POP first is the sensible way to find out whether your idea is a good fit. Official source: https://www.plymouth.gov.uk/community-and-local-grants. Last checked by GrantMatch on 16 October 2026.

One application a year. How to apply: Read the fund guidance notes and Devon Community Foundation terms and conditions on the fund page, complete the eligibility checklist and apply online. Batsworthy Cross Wind Farm Community Fund
Devon Community Foundation
Small grants year round and quarterly large grants for community access to services, community energy, skills, rural business, sport, community buildings, transport and wellbeing. Separate capital project form. Amount: Up to £5,000 small; £5,000 to £30,000 large. Small grants rolling; large grants next deadline noon 11 November 2026. Who can apply: Community organisations working in Bishops Nympton, East Anstey, East Worlington, Knowstone, Meshaw, Molland, Oakford, Rackenford and Creacombe, Rose Ash or West Anstey, with priority for the three closest parishes. How to apply: Read the fund guidance notes and Devon Community Foundation terms and conditions on the fund page, complete the eligibility checklist and apply online. Capital projects use a separate downloadable form emailed to grants@devoncf.com. Official source: https://devoncf.com/grants/batsworthy-cross-wind-farm-community-fund/. SWEF Enterprise Fund for Young Entrepreneurs (Dorset)
Dorset Community Foundation (SWEF)
Young entrepreneurs aged 18 to 30 in Dorset can get up to £500 to start a business or up to £2,000 to grow one. No business plan is needed, but you need a reference and evidence of early progress. Bristol Airport Local Community Fund
Bristol Airport
Grants (the Airport Environmental and Amenity Improvement Fund) for projects in the local area that mitigate unforeseen environmental or amenity impacts of the airport on local communities. A separate Diamond Fund gives smaller donations. Amount: Mostly up to £12,000 (more in exceptional cases). Rolling: apply online at any time. Who can apply: Community groups in the local area most affected by Bristol Airport operations, with projects meeting the fund criteria. How to apply: Click apply on the Bristol Airport Local Community Fund page and choose the Local Community Fund (or the Diamond Fund for small requests), then describe the project, amount and local benefit. Official source: https://www.bristolairport.co.uk/corporate/community/local-community-fund/. Last checked by GrantMatch on 19 October 2026.
Councillor community grants
Plymouth City Council
Plymouth City Council gives councillors an annual grant allocation. They use it for projects that help not-for-profit groups and organisations in the city. This listing suits local community groups and voluntary sector organisations in Plymouth. If your group is not-for-profit and works in the city, it is worth a look. The funder's page gives a short description only, so treat it as a starting point rather than a full guide. Support is available before you apply. The Plymouth Octopus Project (POP) offers support and advice about how your organisation can apply for funding. Getting in touch early is a sensible first step, especially if you are new to applying for grants. The council's community and local grants page lists other routes too. The Living Streets grant lets councillors direct funding to highways issues in their wards. The City Change Fund supports projects for local people. There are also pages for Armed Forces grants and the UK Community Renewal Fund. If your idea does not fit councillor grants, one of these may suit it better. You do not need to read everything before you start. Begin with the Councillor community grants entry on the council's page, then speak to POP about the best way to put your application together. Social Investment Gateway Programme
School for Social Entrepreneurs
The Social Investment Gateway Programme is a free 12-month support programme run by the School for Social Entrepreneurs (SSE). It helps charities, social enterprises and community organisations strengthen their trading and move closer to being ready for social investment within the next three years. The programme will support 75 leaders across four cohorts. Cohort 2 runs from 1 March 2027 to 1 February 2028, and applications are now open. Face-to-face sessions take place in London and Manchester at the start, middle and end of the programme. You can choose between two types of grant. A Match Trading Grant of up to £18,000 is designed to challenge your trading, and you can only draw it down as your trading grows. It is paid over 12 months in five instalments. A repayable grant of up to £24,000 is also available, with an average of around £22,000. SSE is piloting repayable grants, and 10 are on offer across both rounds. SSE will share the risk with you and wants to learn with you how repayable grants might help organisations get into social investment. The programme suits organisations that have a trading model and plans to grow over the next year. You might want support with market development, pricing and sales, financial strategy, systems, governance, demonstrating impact or managing risk. The deadline is noon on Friday 6 November 2026. One practical point: you should usually have an annual income above £100,000, counting all income and not just trading income. Groups below that level with a strong trading model are encouraged to contact SSE. Official source: https://www.actiontogether.org.uk/social-investment-gateway-programme. Leeds Building Society Foundation - Small Grants
Leeds Building Society Foundation
The Leeds Building Society Foundation Small Grants help UK charities that support people in need of a safe and secure home. The Foundation funds work in the housing and homelessness sector. You can apply for up to £2,500. The grants are flexible, so you can ask for core, project or capital costs. The average grant period is between six months and a year. The scheme suits UK-registered charities with a turnover of under £500,000. You can be based anywhere in the UK. Your application must meet at least one of the funding priorities: financial stress, security and refuge, or quality and suitability of housing. You can also apply under the theme of health and wellbeing support for people experiencing homelessness. This must be part of wraparound support, and your application must also meet at least one of the other priorities. The Foundation welcomes applications that take a Housing First and/or relationship-based approach. It would like to see evidence of strength-based practice, trauma-informed care and psychologically informed environments. The current application window opened on 8 September 2026 and closes on 11 November 2026. The Foundation's meeting for this window is on 4 December 2026. One practical point: the Foundation highly recommends reading its grant giving guide before you apply. The guide explains what is funded, who is eligible and how the process works.
